Default Nite Shades legal in california?

I read that blacked out taillights are illegal in california, but i see cars with them every day. I want to use nite shades on mine. Are they legal and does anyone have any pics?

there ilegal but i have them on the back and infront also i haven't gotten pulled over and even a few times driving with a cop on my ***...

i think the only trouble ull have is if u get pulled over for any other reason then they might also toss in a fix it ticket for that.

Yes they are illegal, and yes you can be pulled over for it. Though it is just a fix it ticket.

Just don't put as many coats on. Put as many as you'd like for how dark you want them. If you smoke them, your tail light would just look transparent

Dont use a cover, use a product called nightshade. You spray it on. Only do a couple coats so it smoked but not completely black. If you cant see your light through it, youre going to get pulled over. If your brak lights worked as good or almost as good as normal, they probably wont mess with you. If i was going to do it, i would black it out or smoke it till i was happy then i would use ultra brite LED's to make sure it shines through.

i have them on my SS and live in California. so to answer the question i have gotten a couple fix it tickets for them. Mostly the cops get me for the window tint and then throw everyother thing in with it (taillight tint, no front plate, music too loud, mod exhaust, the whole nine yards). but I have never, never been pulled over for just the tints. I will never take them off they look too good on my car for that. I also have a cops signature, badge number, and police department number photocopied, so i just sign them off myself.....
