Default Hood fit inside the car? Wierd I know...

I'm traveling to pick up a Formula and I found a WS6 hood in the area in the matching color...
Will a Fbody hood fit in the back area of the car? Was thinking it might narrow end toward the trunk or you tell me how if you've done it?
Really want to pick it up but I don't want to leave my stock hood there in case I decide to sell the car later on and can get more for the hood separate...

SO: Will the hood fit inside the car?

I dont think so.. Looking at the hood of my car it looks just as wide as the windshield. You don't wanna chip anything trying to get it in there either. Have a buddy of yours come in a truck and just throw it in there to be safe.

But there are threads here in the forum that shows the hood in the hatch/backseat area before.

There are in fact, people who have done this.
Rotated 90degrees.

Hmm where to find these pics?

My problem is that I am flying to FL to pick it up and its not worth it to take a truck there, then two cars back just for a hood, it'd be cheaper to ship the hood back but the seller doesn't want to ship the hood...

yes it will. i took my ram air hood to the body shop in the back of my car and the hatch closed. i would suggest towels over the speaker covers though as i put a minor scrape in mine getting the hood out.

I wouldn't assume an LS1 hood is much larger than an LT1 hood but i don't know for sure

i don't have any pics but it was in the car sideways and IIRC the front of the hood was twords the drivers side

YOu could always strap it to the roof, just put blankets between the car and hood, and to 1995blacktattop im not sure if your LT1 hood would be any different, b/c of the way the headlights are the hood might be smaller towards the front

And I found the other thread finally that says a few people have done this with an LS1 hood... Just rotate 90 degrees and wrap edges...

My next question... How far up to the seats have to go? I'm 6'1" so I can't drive THAT close for 14 hours...

Well it looks possible judging on the info you found. If worse comes to worse, (assuming someone is coming with you) and you can't fit it in the car, rent a U-Haul truck in florida and just drop it off wherever you live.

Always good to have a backup plan lol

yeah i think i had to have the seat forward slightly and also leaned the passenger seat forward. but it was only for ~ 5mi (i brought the hood home from michigan in the back of my 95 subaru station wagon)

Put the new hood on and try to fit the original in the car in case you scratch it

Mine fit just fine. Had to pull the driver seat as far forward as I could, while still comfortably driving the car, and just laid down the passenger seat. No other issues here, hatch completely closed.
