Default Question about stock valve springs in particular 02 year

Talked with SLP the other day and did some searching here. Is it correct the 98's had the weakest springs? My search here said that 02's had the same springs as LS-6 motors or at least an equal spring. Anyone have info?

All 97-04 LS1s came with the same spring. 01 LS6s had a different spring and 02+ LS6s had a different spring. LS2s came with the same spring as the 02+ LS6.

Post #19 in here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...questions.html

"If you have an '02 then you don't need to upgrade the springs! They are the same Z06 springs. ALL '02 LS1 & LS6 engines came with the same springs, clutch, oil pump, intake, hydraulics. I would buy a set of Harlan Sharp 1.8 for $330 shipped and forget about SLP rockers"

SLP also told me 02's had better springs. Never had the covers off mine to look. This is where I am confused

Yea, there are people that believe some came with 243 heads too. Doesn't mean they did. I've done spring swaps on every year LS1 they made. Have a dealer look up the part number for the springs. Or just believe whatever you want.

Just swapped out the springs on my '03 LS-1 (base 350HP) and they were plain colored, no stripes or other paint marks...
