well, a tune anyway, and if you want better sound, just swap out the mufflers...

going to the 3" exhaust system that's available from magnaflow will cause you to lose your low end power/torque, cuz the pipe's too big... don't need that big of a diameter pipe on our cars...

I kept the stock pipe, and just put on some flowmaster super 40's, and it sounds amazing - plus I still have all my low end power/torque...

and a tune will definitely help as well, especially with these auto trannies... whether you get a diablo predator, or go the hp tuners or custom dyno tune route, you will get better performance and gains.

3" isn't to big for our cars, look at all the v8's that come with dual 2.25-2.5" pipes, they will flow more than a single 3". I had 3" on mine and the low end was still completely there. Even removing the resonator will help with the sound alot. That was one of the first things i did to mine.

I had the 3” catless dp 3” resonator and 3” magnaflows. If I lost anything down low I made up for it on top. G-tech said I ran the same and butt dyno could tell a difference. Personally I thought it was a bit loud in the car. Good god she sounded mean. If you need to convince the wife maybe a K&N, tune, and remove the resonator.

I've got 3 inch exhaust and I mighta lost a lil' down low. But, the mid to top end pull way makes up for it. The cars fries the **** outta the tires at anytime or any speed in 1st anyways so the slight low end loss really doesn't bother me. 3 inch isn't too big. Your shoving 2 exhaust manifolds thru a single pipe with a horrible merger. All 3 inch does is take a lil' back pressure away. Not enough to make a major difference.

Honestly, I don't think they ever were 3". I say this b/c that was a big part of my decision 2 years ago (~6 months after it came out). Go with the 2.5" Magnaflow or have a custom 3" Flowmaster system fabbed?

Another interesting note, I just checked out the MF site, and for as great as everyone says it is, there are NO customer reviews. Curious.....

I'm sure that will change now.

When you start modding and find that the car breaks them loose with its snappy low end and then peters out at 5300 RPMs you'll wise you had more topend.
