LS1 240SX - 11s with bolt ons only
I haven't actually posted on this site in over a year. Since then I've sold the Z28, and picked up another 240 to start some LS1 madness. I had a friend that did one, that performed extremely well, and I couldn't resist putting together my own.
Anyways, this time is from December '08. The car is currently put aside for now, as I complete my SR 240SX, but it will get some more love later this year.
The car is a '91 Nissan 240SX SE (fastback).
Mods:
LS1 swap ('02 Camaro SS donor)
Stock heads
Stock cam
Stock 6 speed
LS7 Clutch
Custom cold air intake
Custom true dual exhaust
Hinson headers
240SX VLSD (4.083 final)
Nitto Drag Radials
Car sits pretty at 2688lbs. with full interior (no tools, spare, or A/C), without me in it. The car has only been to the track one time. This is the best of 3 runs, and the only run that actually had a decent launch on the radials:
60' - 1.68
1/8 -7.64
MPH - 93.90
1/4 - 11.55
MPH - 118.91
I this car will go 10s on cam only. We'll see later this year when I have time to continue the modifications. For now it's a solid street car with a super reliable stock LS1 to beat on.

That's a darn good time for a pretty much stock motor!! I actually had a 240 with intentions to do an LS1 swap, but sold it to my best friend so he could put a CA18 in it. I'm actually looking for another 240 or maybe even an RX7 to swap a LS in.

It's pretty cheap to do if you install it yourself. I bought both of my 240SXs, with straight bodies and stock, for $1500 and $1800. I paid about $3000 for the LS1 motorset and transmission. Another $1000 for motor mounts, and fabricated things I had to buy to make it work, and another $500 for misc. **** and bolt ons. That's a bit over $6000 for an LS1 powered 240SX that handles great and will run 11s in the quarter. Try and find a decent LS1 F-body for that price. Also when I say the car handles great.... I mean it. The stock 4 cylinder motor has an iron block. The all aluminum LS1 actually weighs less than the 4 cylinder that came out. With the transmission I think the weight was only 20-30lbs over the stock motor. Also keep in mind that this car is not set up for drag at all. I have full coilovers on the car, that I just soften up when I hit the drag strip. It's amazing what these cars can do with 1000lbs. less weight to push than an F-body.
If you have any questions about swap or car, let me know.

My other 240SX is powered by an SR20DET and it's running in the 10s with drag radials.

Damn what is all done to your SR? Is that on pump or C16? That trap speed is just insane. I sure hope my friend's 35R KA-T doesn't trap that or I'm in trouble lol.
Dude you are getting it done behind the wheel. 1.68 60' with stock suspension and Nittos()

Anyways, my SR has a "mild" bottom end build. It's running Eagle rods, with CP forged pistons (9.0:1 compression), and ARP rod/head bolts, Greddy headgasket. Other than that the rest of the bottom end is refreshed, but stock. On top, I'm running custom ground staggered intake/exhaust cams, solid lifters, and Supertech valve springs/retainers. The head is setup to rev out to 8500rpms if needed. There are some other misc. stuff too, but the important stuff is listed above.
The turbo is a large trim GT35R, on a custom built kit, tuned with ROM tuning software and data-logging. The exhaust is still exiting out the back of the car through a standard exhaust with a muffler!
I'm still running pump gas with alchy injection for the 22psi tune. No race gas yet. I will be running race gas on the 30psi tune, when I get around to doing it. The car will go into the 9s on slicks this March.... and when I'm done I will put street tires back on it and drive it home.... like a true street car.

what size tires and did you up the rev limiter? did you have to hit 5th gear?
i need to up my mph alittle and with the stock rev limiter and 255/40/17's the most i trap is 115.
very nice times and a GREAT 60ft.
i hope w/ tires i can get close to your times. i got an extra 180 lbs to carry so it wont be as good as yours.

I only have the time and funds to do one project at a time. Going to test and tune the 30psi setup on my SR 240SX. When I've played with that a bit, I'll put the car aside and work on the LS1 240SX. I'm thinking a heads & cam setup with a 150 shot will be a bit rediculous, but I'll probably end up doing it because I'm crazy. We'll see.

By the way, I don't know any info on your car. Are you running an LSX 240X platform or an F-body platform?
