94 vette, what shot is OK
BUddy has a 94 vette, bone stock, well he does have one of those 3 cone intakes for vettes on it. It has very low miles. Runs great. Its an automatic. He really wants a stealth nitrous setup. What kind of shot is safe? 75-100-125? Does anyone have anytimes? I tried searching the nitrous thread on here, but most are already h/c cars, and corvetteforum wasnt any help either. He wants to try to get a low to mid 12 sec car. As bad as he pulled my m6 formula I'd say he's mid 13s or better right now.
I just really like to see what number/times stock cars are doing, or just maybe like gears and nitrous or something.
Thanks!

The LT1 shortblock will handle 150-175 pretty reliably depending on NA power and the system has to be setup RIGHT, like new perfrmance fuel pump and a box to pull timing.
If he is keeping the stock exhaust manifolds I would probably start down around 100 and work up slowly, the exhaust restriction may cork it up and stop gains before a 150 shot.

General consensus is that on a stock LT1 block, the largest shot you want to go is 150, although some people think that's pushing it. Just make sure he has intake/exhaust and all of the safety precautions and he'll be fine.

I FIGURE A 75-100 will do all he needs then. I forgot he does have muffler deletes on the car. But from what I remeber from my vette, there arent a lot of header choices. Sadly his roomate was just given a very high end car and loves to rub it in how fast it is. He wants to be able to at least keep it close. Maybe a LE1 h/c is in the works in a few months. But a 04 SL55 AMG is a beast, damn thing dynos 489 stock!!! But guy cant drive. Oh well it was free to him and is better than his old z4 I guess......I hate him. lol.. BUt trying to keep the good old lt a little competitive to **** him off basically. What kind of 1/4 difference will 3.73 give him over stock? I dont know what the c4 comes with stock though.

I dont like any of the LT1 dry kits out there. Just dont like the idea of jacking up the FP to get the extra fuel and the dam computer is too slow to keep up.
I would go wet kit and really spend some time hiding the lines and noids.
As for the 3.73 gear? I would really consider a 2800 rpm stall, that and a 100 shot and sticky tires may allow him to keep up with that benz if the driver sucks. The gear would maybe be a .2-.3 gain and 1-2mph. The stall could be .4-.5 gain and 0 mph but the n2o would help that out. I say 2800 stall, 100 shot, dr's.

Remember vettes have 4bolt blocks so Id say 150-175 like caprice said is about right.
125-150 on a f-body. Both cars need to be set up right to handle it for any extended amount of time.
I just picked up a 95 Vette A4. Ill take to the track just to see what it runs. Its bone stock!

I have a 96 Vette and when it was stock I ran 13.64 @ 102mph. I put 3.73's CAI and 1.6RR and went 13.14 @105mph. Added DR's and 2800 stall on great track conditions and went 12.68 @ 108mph. Now with a hot cam rebuilt 355 and more bolt on's I'm running 12.0X @ 115.7 mph and no N20 yet!

Well, having had a '93 Corvette A4 bone stock with nitrous, I should tell that it works out really well.
I ran an NX wet kit at 75 and 100 hp settings with no issue. I then stepped up to a 150, and then 175 with some octane boost and never had any problems.
I only ran it with the 175 shot and it went from 13.75 at 102 stock to 12.3 at 117 on nitrous. I never changed out the fuel pump, as it was only making 375 to the wheels on a Mustang dyno with nitrous (175 shot) and 235 without. I just installed some colder Autolite non-platinum plugs that were gapped at .035 along with a new fuel filter and the car NEVER had a problem (and this is with the 175).
If you want to stay safe and have peace of mind, I would stay with a 150 and it should be trouble free.
Hope this helps!
