Don't forget to clean them with some type of degreaser/thinner after you sand them down...oh yeah, adhesion promotor will help the paint stick to the rim.

Are they chrome now? I'd keep a chrome lip if so..IMO

heres a pic of my old wheels, i would leave the outer edge silver. also i just cleaned mine scuffed them with a red scotch brite pad and recleaned then painted.

I would sell them and buy a cheap pair of rims to paint. All all-black rims look the same, so at least you might be able to get some decent cash for those.
