Why leave the stock computer alone?
If no tuning is allowed, you are basically limited to full bolt-ons.

If you are building a engine, build it to your hp goals. Everything will be determined by your budget. How much do you have to work with?

stock bore and stroke with a hotcam if you are not gonna change the computer, but you will benefit GREATLY from a tune.

Are you doing a repair or trying to gin power??

Unless broken it may be a mistake to mess with the shortblock, it is better than what many shops pass off as performance engines.

So is there anything currently wrong with the shortblock now? If not, I would take your budget of 3500 and spend it on heads/cam/full bolt-ons. You can get a heads/cam package from either Lloyd Elliot or Advanced Induction for under 2 grand.

Lloyd Elliot Portworks:
http://www.elliottsportworks.com/lt1.html

Advanced Induction:
http://www.advancedinduction.com/AiProductsLT1.html

The other 1500 can be spent on all of the supporting mods, i.e. CAI, ported intake manifild, headers, y-pipe & catback/true duals, injectors, TB, and a tune.

You should be good for 400+rwhp.
