Most ignorant LT1 Bashing.. ever
Heres a background on this story..
I have a 97 T/A WS6 A4 with the mods listed in my sig
My Yank SS 3600 stall is coming tomorrow (keeping stock 10-bolt for now) and I am also buying Motive 3.73 gears and suspension parts (rear racing shocks, UMI tubular lower control arm, brackets, welded tubular subframe connectors, and a umi shock tower brace) done by Spring
My friend Jack has a red 2006 Cobalt SS/SC with Stage 2 ("260hp")
So I get on facebook last night and Jack comments on my picture of my T/A in the garage saying "Oh, I hope the hockey net hanging in front of it falls on it" and on another picture, "Look at that slow POS"
So I reply back "if it did, i'd still have the pleasure of knowing its ugly *** would still beat you"
So he says this "marc, its okay you drive GM's mistake. Thats cool. If your gonna buy a V8 why would you buy a busted LT1. I'd love to race you, Not only would i beat your slow POS now, but I'll smoke its *** come spring. have a nice day"
I reply "So your calling the f-bodies a mistake? Is that why you haven't beat me yet?"
He goes "The LT1 was Gm's mistake, the Ls1 is what happened when they came off thier high."
I said, "Put your money where your mouth is and drive down here from Ames" (40 minute drive)
He says we'll wait until Spring at Newton (1/8th mile strip) and Cedar Falls (1/4 strip) here in Iowa
With Stage 2, and 235 tires, he ran a 9.4 at Newton's 1/8th mile.. My car ran a 9.0 bone stock to the filter with crappy street tires...
He claims his Cobalt will be running "high 12's" when the fastest stage two only i've ever seen go is 14.0... (One guy with a ported supercharger, full bolt-on's, drag radials, and a 50 shot of nitrous ran a 13.3 up in Cedar Falls)
So what do you think guys apparently LT1 was GM's mistake, and hes afraid to race me from a dig.. it can only be a 50mph roll.. I laughed saying Rolls are for Pussies

He's an Idiot!!!Colbalt is a girls car!!!!!!!! And in the end its only half the engine you have.
IMO LT1s are the last true muscle cars. They look, sound, and drive like it. LS1 and other new engine powered cars my be faster but they lack in "in your face muscle car kinda feel".

You'll have to read the laundry list of excuses he'll have...but at the end, he'll have nothing and you can call him on it.

With the time he ran in the 1/8th.. most Cobalt guys on their forum think he can run at best a 14.2... maybe shitty driving idk... lol his new mods that are gonna destroy me are a strut bar and a short shifter... mmmhmm yeah.. I was just livid when he called LT1 GM's mistake....
I'm pretty sure our motors are cheap as hell to build and are an amazing sports car value to anyone!

LT1's get alot of disrespect its pathetic. Funny when the old POS LT1 cars can run 12's with boltons. Funny how they also run 11's full weight with ported heads, mild cam and boltons on stock bottom ends. If a car can do that its got respect in my book. No disrespect to LSx's (have an LS2 GTO and LS2 TBSS in the fam) but if you do a properly setup heads/cam + boltons to an LS1 and to an LT1 both will basically runs 11's, just that the LS1 will be deeper into the 11's than the LT1. Stroke them both out with good heads/cam and big stall + gears and both will be capable of 10's of course with the LS1 deeper into the 10's than the LT1. Just trying to prove a point by saying in reality the LS1 is definetly better but not by a whole lot, just the general population of people do not understand that and they are naive. Race your buddy and shut his *** up!

The LT1 wasn't GM's mistake. It's a damn good motor, especially since it was first produced in '92. The only problem is the stupid optispark. I'd consider his motor to be a bigger mistake. I like the Cobalt SS/SC and all. But, we all know it wasn't getting the job done, and that's why GM decided to go turbo in '08.

Hey cmon guys cobalts are sweet.
I can ride and get groceries in the winter in great comfort and remote start that bad boy before i go driving! You just cant comete with that kinda luxury and 14 second 1/4mile passes. To sum it up, Cobalts are the best car GM has ever produced...EVAR!
