I wouldnt mind having a supra motor in a few cars, 69 camaro with a 2Jz is a bit odd but you got to admit those things make huge power, when they spooooooool lol I bet this is how rx7 owners feel when they see pple put LS1 motors in there, its almost a slap in the face but who carer. As long as it works for the owner

The toyota motor in the camaro is far worse than chevy motor in a ford... you should be numb to that by now... hell when I go to a car show I see more ford street rods powered by chevy than ford, lol.

that car has been linked somewhere on this board. you have to admit look at the craftsmanship in that car. i was planning on 2jz in a 55 chevy. HP per dollar that motor is pretty good.

Me too!
The car even has ricer style exhaust tips. Ugh.
Of course the thing has never been done the drag strip. I am sure it would behave like most of the "1000 HP" Supra's that I see at the track -- it would bang and pop and make all sorts of funny noises and then run a 13.5 @ 140 MPH, lol.

I personally think it's neat. If this is the same car as the red one that had a thread linking to it a while ago, the fabrication on it is pretty off the hook. It is all candy red and chrome, which I totally disagree with, but from the amount of work that must've went into it (don't forget, 1000hp on ANY motor requires serious dedication and time), clearly someone or some people have the car-nut enthusiasm and skills to put this motor in this car. I never would've thought a revvy 6cyl would be put in a big heavy sluggish camaro (compared to the import cars) but they did it. I would never personally do this swap, but I see why someone would. If there were any non-domesticV8 engine to put in some car, it would probably be the supra motor. I am aware that the LS1 is a fantastic motor and pretty much gives out free hp with little mods, but no matter who you are you have to admit that these 2Jz's can rip even with when only mildly built.
People disagree? I'm OK with that, this car doesn't make me sick, I'm of the opinion that it's OK to do what you want. Whoever did this is alright in my books, just because it's a swap that I would never want to personally do myself (and i do love revvy I-6's...) I still respect the people, because they are clearly just as much car people as us LS1-lovers. and I can't fault them for that
...unless if this car was just built for attention-grabbing-ness and to showoff... I'm morally against trailer queens!!!!

I'm not against making stupid power with any setup, but people seem to think the Supra engines were direct descendents of the gods. In reality, they were built to handle boost, that's about it.
Don't get me wrong, it's a sick setup, although it sounds ricey. But congratulations on making 1000 hp with twin turbos. 750 streetable hp N/A is much more impressive.

I used to think thats how I felt... hell I'm about to put a L92 in a miata that I enjoy the hell out of driving... even with the ricer motor. But this car... hell, it just feels sacroligious. I don't know, probably just feeling insecure. (now I know how the "purists" feel). Oh crap, i think I'm going to be sick again...

Well the last gen supra was something like 3600lbs. They are touring cars more than sports cars. A first gen camaro with a 760lb BBC only weighs 3400lbs. My first gen with ls1 is down in the 2800s and its ALL steel no fiberglass plus SFCs, Trac bars, mini-tub etc.
I stand corrected, I have no idea about Supra's, I'm not so into them.
