Help i have a coolant leak
I think the leak is coming from the water pump. I have a pic to see if I'm right. The red line on pic is where the coolant is coming out,the yellow lines show the water pump . you can see where is has started to drip. This is one time i dont want to be right. How hard is it to replace the water pump? Where to get one?

Unfortunately you need a new water pump, that is leaking where its supposed to when you lose the seal, the weep hole.
Its really not hard at all, little time consuming, but certainly not hard. Get new gaskets from the dealership and do it your self. Maybe a 1-2 hour job for a beginner.

I thought so . Ok on the site you sent me which water pump is better?Any luck with different brand than AC Delco or it doesn't matter? Do you know the torque specs for the bolts?

I would first call PepBoys and Advance Auto and the like, because alot of those places offer Lifetime warrantees on parts like these. If there are no lifetime warrantees offered, I personally go with AC Delco stuff. But I'm sure you'll get some good years out of any of them.

Bleeding air...
After you refill with coolant/water mix:
- leave radiator cap off,
- remove the hose from the steam tube (coming from under intake manifold) next to throttle body (attach a length of clear tube to the steam tube and run it past front of car into a bucket, easier to see air purging),
- run engine,
- as thermostat opens coolant level may go down, add coolant mix,
- run engine until only coolant (no air) comes from the steam tube.
Install a new radiator cap, they are cheap.

I've always just started the engine after the job is done, top of the coolant while leaving the radiator cap off. Wait for the t-stat to open and start flowing coolant, top off as necessary. Wait for it to close and open twice, topping it off both times and you got all the air out.

i should go get one too. never fails, buy something, and then something breaks. im finishing up my nitrous install, and i drop a washer under the car, pick it up an notice a 2 ft wide puddle of coolant. not but hours after i sent off 300 bucks for headers, what luck right? just sucks that i mounted my solenoids and nozzle in the area i now have to take back off.

I know i though the same thing. I know it's for the t stat because of the shape but I wont use it. One the instructions it says that new pump will have a small, temporary seepage of coolant from the weep hole during initial run in period and it should stop after the seal has been allowed to "lap in" Did yours leak a little at first?

ok, i put a new pump on mine 2 days ago also, ive been following this thread and all. so i put it on, put coolant back in it, and topped it off. left the cap off, let it warm up and kept topping it off. i drove it about 120 miles yesterday, everything was good. temp never went over 170-175. today i hop in it, and the low coolant light comes on. i check the coolant, and had to top off the radiator a little more, less than 2 inches. its still on tho.... i even unplugged the battery in hopes it would go off, it came back on? anyone know whats up with this?
