Fuel Pump
I was thinking about a single Walbro. Is that plenty for spraying about 150 shot and running a comp cams 306? I had been spraying an 80 shot through it and it was working fine, my A/F was right on the 11.5 . Well now on the 150shot it was 13.5 with a 62/N and 33/F jets. So I upped the fuel side to a 41 and it dropped to 13.0 at WOT. Leads me to believe the pump is too weak. I haven't stuck a fuel pressure gauge on it while at WOT, but at the point I don't think there is much point in it. What do you think? Single Walbro or more? And where is a good walkthru on exactly where to cut up my floor to get to the pump? I saw a real good one somewhere that even had measurements to exactly where to cut. Thanks guys.

A Racetronix kit with a Walbro 255lph pump is more than sufficient for a 150 shot.

A Racetronix kit with a Walbro 255lph pump is more than sufficient for a 150 shot.

You pull out your fuel pump assembly, remove the old pump, install the new one, and drop the assembly back in. The write-up shows everything. Its easy. There is really no need for the hotwire kit.

I would suggest Lonnie's Performance. He carries the Racetronix kit for the same price, and he will answer the phone if you have questions. Racetronix doesn't even list a phone number.
Opinions vary on the hotwire kit. I have one, and the difference in quality, construction and power supplied to the pump is not even in the same state, much less the same ballpark. Remember, you are putting in a pump that is more powerful (hence the increase in volume). The stock wiring is marginal, at best, for the stock pump.

Single walbro should handle those power levels fine. Im not a big fan of the A/F gauges...just read the plug...it never lies. I ran a 165 shot on a 383ci through a duel nozzle kit just fine on a 255. Do some searching around, you might be surpised about what looking at a plug can tell you.

Hm, ok. I will look into it. What about problems on running the tank below a 1/4. I have heard with some of the aftermarket pumps it isn't a good idea. Whats the concensus on that?

I already pulled the plugs and changed them. I didn't cut them but they were lean as hell.

Once that pump gets too hot or has several hot cycles pressure will start to drop.
