Default Bolt on LT1 with TH 400???

hey guys just a question about my trans. Im looking into swapping my M6 to TH400 RMVB, trans brake and around a 3800 stall. My car currently just has bolt ons, suspension and lots of weight reduction...in the 3k race weight range. Now the question is if i swap to a TH400 how much would that help me out? btw i will be running a 4.10 gear with 2765/60/15 ET Street Radials.

thanks in advance

haha yea! wish i could fit a tire that wide, much less afford one! lol

Um are you on the stock 10-bolt? I kinda decided against a transbrake for my setup. Mainly because that it is a big jolt once you let go of the button, and if you want to find the weak point in your car that will probably show it to ya!

You should have enough room to hit 120mph at the top of 3rd (6000rpm)

The 1st gear ratio should get you out of the hole GOOD.

on my old cam-only LT1 set-up, i switched from a 700r4 with a 3600 stall to a th400 with rmvb and a 4500 stall and knocked off almost 2 tenths on motor and on a 150 shot. 11.90's NA and 10.90's on nitrous to 11.70's and 10.70's

I installed a th400 with 3800 converter and t-brake, that dropped my 60' from 2.20 on the 6-speed to 1.51 on the th400. Both were on the factory 10 bolt with 4.10 gears.

Also you will need another drive shaft for the install.

I have searched high and low on this forum and others and have not found any links to this conversion. I have found plenty on the LS* to TH400 so if you guys have any actual links that you can post up for me that would be a great help. I have tried in vain with every combination of phrases that I can think of and none have worked.

Thanks,

Joe

For the swap your gonna need to get a Trans, TQ Converter(Im pretty sure a standard GEN1 converter will bolt right up), Flexplate(I used a stock 4L60 for my swap), Trans Xmember(Used a bmr peice for my car), Drive shaft, shifter of your choice and a big trans cooler and a trans temp gauge is always a nice thing to have.

I run a th400. you ran reuse your t56 crossmember with some simple mods. I have a nice billet protorque converter that would work well with your setup, it went 4000 or so behind a mild 383. You'll need a new driveshaft, I had a local shop build a 3" chromoly for 350 bucks.
