Default Installed new cam but not very good results

Just installed new cam (230 /230 El Toro) but I did not have very good results at the track. I think I had a lot working against me tho. The DA at speedworld was about 2800 FT. SAT. It seemed everybody was off about 2 to 3 tenths.
The car only ran a 12.19 @112.4 W/ 1.72 60'.
I know the car is being held back with the exhaust. I will be getting a cut out and under drive pulley in the furture. I am sure this will help.
I put the car on the Dyno before I went to the track. Air / fuel was perfect. The car only put down 363 hp ( Bad DA and need cut out).
I dont plan on putting heads on the car ( budget). I do plan to restall the converter to 4000 stall when the tranny gets tune up.
Any other suggestions????

Get a cutout. I had a flowmaster too and my old car ran very similar to yours after I did a cam, then I got a cutout and picked up 3mph and 3 tenths

Those are good numbers, I would not be upset.

I am not upset by the numbers. Just hoping for more for first time out. I only gained a tenth for my past best. But that was almost perfect running conditions that night (700ft DA in AZ is great).
I figure with a cut out and under drive pulley with same whether I might hit low 11.7s. Bump up to a 4000 stall and maybe 11.6s.
I was just wondering what others thought.

Just curious, was that 363 locked or unlocked?

If he just slapped it on a dyno without any tuning software then the numbers are probably unlocked 363 unlocked is not bad at all for a mild/medium sized cam.

You would have been in the 385 range locked up. The flowmaster and XS Y pipe are holding you back quite a bit. A cutout would likely pick up 10-15RWHP.

Your mph isnt too bad but a 3600 conveter and 3.73 gears should be good for a 1.60-1.62 60ft at a bare minimum.

A 1.72 60ft is unacceptable for that converter/gear.... What tires do you run? Does that track not hook worth a damn?

Get the car out of the hole, add a cutout, and you should be good for mid 11s all day

The tune put in was real good. Air /fuel was perfect threw the pulls.
I know the flowmaster is hurting me ( previous owner) But why is the Y pipe hurting? ( I am not being a jerk. I just dont now?)

The 60ft was up a bit. Before cam I was doing 1.69 to 1.70 60s with MT ET Streets. I figured the bad DA of 2800ft. was part of that. I also did not come up on the converter as hard I normally(1800 to 2000 rpm) do because they normally dont prep as good as firebird.

Don't know much about that cam but you should have better bottom end then that. What rpm did you leave at? what tires and pressure are you running? I run at speedworld all the time so I know about the da up there

I was only coming up to about 1500 rpm. I was running 17 lbs on MT ET streets. A lot of the cars where spinning off the line. When I go to firebird I launch at 2000 rpm.
I ordered my cutout today. I will hit firebird on march 6. This will hopefully give me a better idea where I stand. I just hope we dont get a hot spell by then.

I would like to see some low 1.6x 60's also but the track didn't seem to be holding it that day. Heck I was off by about .05 on my 60's and 2 tenths slower than I usually am. It was fairly warm, 80+degrees. I have the same combo except with a cutout and stock 3.23 gears. I dyno'd 383 through a locked converter and the cutout open. Mike is running 255/5016 MT ET Drag Radials.
