Default "285/35R18 size is too big for the 2002 Camaro" How do you fit these on?

I just ordered some Sumitomo HTRZ III tires (275/35/18 fronts and 285/35/18 rears) from a website last night, and got an email this morning saying this:

Based upon the product selected and the vehicle you have listed on the order, the 285/35R18 size is too big for the 2002 Camaro and is not one of the recommended sizes for the vehicle. I cannot release your order until I speak with you regarding this concern.

How do you guys get your 285's to fit on your camaros?

That's because you purchased them by vehicle. If you purchased them by tire size only, they would sell them. They are covering their ***. You may hae to tell them that you have modified the inner & outer fender walls.

Well I ordered by tire size, I just listed the car I was going to be putting them on. He will sell them to me, he just wanted to get the approval from me before he ships them out.

So the 285's will fit without any rubbing?

Also, here are the rim's I will be ordering if it matters:

They are two 18" x 9.5" rims for the front (+56mm offset, 7.4" backspace) and two 18" x 10.5" for the rear (+56mm offset, 7.88" backspace). The lug pattern is 5x120.65mm.

Will these fit without any rubbing too?

They will fit just fine, 285's are about the smallest you can go on a 10.5" wheel.

285 seems a little small for a 10.5" wheel... I have a 10" wheel and am running 295's. 295's or 305's would probably be about right for 10.5".

Was this from tirerack When I ordered my 295's from them I got a call in like 5minutes from a rep saying that that was way too big for my car. Had to explain to him that they were replacing worn out ones that were already on the car and he sent the order through I just that that was kinda funny.

It is kind of nice they are lookin out for their customers. Not fun to try and return wheels and tires.

285 is the smallest tire that should be put on a 10.5" wheels. i ran 295-35-18s on my trans am, with very little trouble. some "massaging of the wheel well was needed. I was running spacer on my wheels (which had basically the same offset as yours), but you should be fine.

if i remember, i got the same call from tirerack when i ordered my 315 sumis. theyre not being dicks, tirerack is a fantastic site to deal with. theyre not covering their ***, theyre convering the uneducated people who think they can slap any size tire on any size rim. i can only imagine how many people bought/tried to buy 315s for their 9in rims, then called tirerack complaining that no shop would install them.

theyre very, very good people to deal with, and have lightning fast shipping. youd never think 4 huge tires would get to your house so fast. just say theyre going on an 11in rim and theyll understand youre not a newb.

I think it is really funny knowing people bought 315's trying to put them on a 9" rim, even though every where you look you see 275-285's on these rims, this just made my day a little brighter LOL!

I would personally go with a 295. Fits perfect on a 18x10.5 wheel.

Yea it was tirerack. I did appreciate the call though because if I was an amateur trying to put tires on my stock rims, I would have a big problem.

The tires came after one day and these this are a lot bigger than the tires I have on there right now. I just can't wait until I get them on my rims!

I didn't go for 295's because Sumitomo doesn't carry the 295/35/18 size.

Last question. Will I need spacers for my wheels?

unless youre running some crazy offset, you wont need spacers. what rims do you have.
