If you put a 2 bar in, then you need a 2 bar operating software and only hp tuners offers that for the 98

Yup, 98 PCM's are limited to 2 bar. You would have to change the PCM/wiring harness to use a 3 bar map sensor. Or you can get a stand alone computer.

You can go over 2-bar with the 2-bar setup, you'll just have to fudge the PE/etc up top, or the highest MAP cells, as it will stay in the highest cell row (210kpa or whatever). Not the best way to do it, but swapping the harness/pcm sucks. No way I'd swap the **** out to run 17-18psi.

You can do it without a 2bar OS. the map sensor will read half the voltage of the 1bar so you have to adjust all the tables that use MAP accordingly. The only thing weird about it is the table titles will read up to 105 kpa when in reality the 2 bar goes up to 200. you just have to adjust your thinking for that.

If you go that route, you might as well put the MAF back in as you will be in the same boat

If you swap out the stock map for a 2 bar, will a scan tool/gauge now show up to 1 bar of boost?IE just using it for reference to compare vs an aftermarket gauge.

But but but but he MAF table would be maxxed out WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY before you hit the top of the 2-bar table. Plus if you turn the boost down to 12psi or so (for pump gas or something), you'll be golden.
