Default LS1 / Gen1 F-Body swap headers

I've done some searching on here, but havent found exactly what I am looking for.. I'm in the process of installing an LS1 in a 1969 Camaro and I am getting close to buying headers, but I've got some questions...

From what I've found, it looks like you're going to spend a minimum of $600 for Hookers/ Edelbrocks and on up in price/quality.. I like the looks of the ARH and Kooks Headers, but they are pricey.. What is the best bang for the buck header on the Market?

I am looking for 1-7/8 primaries and I'm not sure if I want slip fit collectors or flange collectors? ARH's are slip fit and Kooks are flange mount. What is better and why? Also, do I need the o2 bungs for o2 sensors or can I eleminate those when I have my ECM reprogrammed to suit? Appreciate any info.. Thanks, Jason.

I would not recommend Hookers...if you have power steering you'll be pulling out a hammer to dent them, unless you use the hooker mounts. The stainless works headers and S&P headers seem the better choices here. Both have flanges with O2 bungs.

the biggest issue is what mounts you are using. SW did not fit my mounts and I do know somebody that dented them for the idler arm for another brand of mounts. Figure out the mount situation first then buy headers to fit the application.

I'm using 1" set-back mounts. I have power steering and hydraulic clutch set up if that makes a difference.. I would hope not to spend a grand on SS headers and have to dent or beat them into place!!! I would probably re-locate the motor front to rear as required to clear everything and modify my mounts as needed.

Is anyone using the ARH or Kooks that would offer a fit and finish review?

With our headers we do any kind of connection you like we prefer slip fit because it takes up less room under the car and is virtually leakproof we use the same exact oem GM clamps that are used on the new ZO6 and ZR1 systems. Give us a call and we can discuss your setup and see if we can do something for you.631-608-1986

Here is BRPs version of hedders for the 67-69 F-Body, we have these in 7 options from 1 3/4 up to 2in and are manufactured at the Husler manufacturing facility under the Muscle Rod line.

Here are some mock up photos of the 2in hedders.

I have a set of Kooks TBSS headers. Quality is the best I have seen from anybody. I wanted stainless only. I already had my motor in and did not think that Kooks conversion headers would fit. Here is the link with pics:

If you decide on Kooks you can go to Haddad or Maryland Speed for the same prices...
