Default Engine Gurus Come In - SCR, quench, pump gas question

ok, here's the deal. i'm building a 416 and i have some decision-making to do regarding establishing the deck height/selection of head gasket.

one possible scenario:
-.05 deck + .040 gasket = .035 quench = 11.71:1 scr

at the other end of the spectrum:
0 deck + .051 gasket = .051 quench = 11.27:1 scr

of course there are numerous other possibilities in between.
i want to strike a compromise between optimum quench and running comfortably on 93 octane pump gas.

suggestions?

P.S. - I haven't had any block machining done yet.

.035 would be a great number to shoot for at 11.7:1.

^ Depends on RPMs. .035 is tight.

i would go with the piston out .005 and the .051 gasket, that would put you a .046 which is a really good number.

Running 12.5:1 with .040 gaskets here. .035 quench and 93 pump gas. My last setup had the same with just 12.0:1 with no issues. I would opt for the 11.7 number if it were me or you will be leaving some on the table. As long as you have a good tuner you will be fine.
