Default motor is fried.....agian.

ok so i just had the top end of my motor rebuilt after i fried both headgaskets. my bottom end was left alone because agianst my better judgement i didnt replace the whole motor. now i have fried the bottom end 2 weeks after getting my motor running agian. so since im gonna be rebuilding the bottom end i figured i should go for something that has a bit more power to it and is alot stronger. i have been researching on summit for rebuild kits for the lt1 and there are hundreds. im at a loss at what to do at this point and would love some input from anyone willing. last thing is money is a factor.

Pick up a low mileage LT1 shortblock and call it a day.

seriously... put an LQ 4/9 in there... it's iron, so it's stronger and you can come across a shortblock for cheap. Oh... and it's a 6.0

Start looking through junkyards and papers for lq4s or even 5.3s or find an lt1 shortblock with decent mileage. Rebuilding it will cost alot, the parts really arent all that expensive, its the machine work and labor that gets you.

if money is a factor, the swap to a gen III engine is not going to be cheap.

I would love to swap to an ls motor. But I don't have the money for that. I'm in the process of pulling the motor and trans.

there is 1 in the western section for 350$ and you could prob get the rest of the parts you will need for another 300$ tops. What are you gonna spend on the lt rebuild?

So the plan as it sits right now is pull the motor and trans and rebuild using forged pistons and a slight bore. See if I can't pull some more power. Maybe a small cam.
