Find one of those side-of-the-road police radar signs and do your own calibrating so at least you know how fast you're really going.

edit: oh, I see, you removed the needles. got it.

They should read just fine. You just put in a different overlay, right? Why would they read incorrectly? They're all electrically activated.

I did the same exact thing, a new cluster is the only way I could think of fixing this crap... So, I got a new cluster.

For the oil gauge can't you just turn the key on, the actual oil pressure should be "0" so then set it to "0"?? And for the voltage just measure it off your battery with a multimeter with the key on and then set it accordingly. Why wouldn't that work?

When I take my clusters in and out, I have two of them, when they are OUT of the car the speed is always reading around 140mph, oil always reads 40psi, gas gauge is always at a touch more than the 3/4 full mark and oil pressure is all the way to the left laying on the peg and my rpm's stay stuck at exactly 7,000.

When I put that cluster back in everything sets up properly. Speed and rpm go to zero, volts go up to wherever they need to be and fuel goes where it needs to be.

So why not install your cluster with the front clear plastic off, turn the key on, then put the needles back on.

Any OBDII scanner should allow you to verify everything except oil pressure and fuel level. Oil pressure=0 with engine off. Fill up your tank and put the fuel needle on F.
