Default How Universal are the LS series Engine dampers?

Can you use the harmonic dampers off the trucks on the cars? Did they change with the evolution of the motor?

They're only specific to the front acc'y drive system being used. Different front drives (as a system) are spaced out from the block face at certain depths. The depth of the balancer is dependent on the depth of the other pulleys.

Don't try & run a 'vette damper on an F-body.That's the only one I know of from experience.
Vette dampers are shorter.

as fas being universal, yes. but will require a the matching front accesories.
i.e. u can use a fbody pulley along with the acc. and everything will be fine.
no need to have anythig balanced

Texans UNITE...haha. Yah they are specific for the most part, but the F body is used on teh GTO. The vette is used on the SSR and the G8. Trucks are by themselves. Thats pretty much it. dont remember on the ctsv tho. my guess would be F body, since the gm serpentine kit is offered for use on the F bodys and normally comes on the ctsv.

Thanks for all the info. Should be part of a sticky. So I will need to remove my F-Body damper and accessories and install them on the new iron truck block, to fit back into the F-body.

So if i have a 6.0L truck short block, i can change the balancer to a f-body one and use the alt and p/s pump too on the truck short block? I'm still learning about these new motors. I'm a old school small block guy. Thanks

Ok that sounds good. Do you have to have the parts rebalanced when changing a balancer? Or are they just zero balance? Thanks
