Default vfn lift off hatches

anyone have any information about these I am refering to the firebird/trans am style I am about to do a lexan install on my stock rear hatch but if these are as nice as their hoods I will hold off and just go this route instead.

I was thinking about buying a hatch but not if it's more work then it's worth.

I agree with the above - if the hatch is anything like their hoods, don't waist your time!

I think most of the weight is in the glass anyways. We had one and it fit pretty good with not too much work

if the glass is most of the wieght then it is not worth the cost for me but if there is 10lbs to be saved using the hatch then I may reconsider but my problem is with mounting it as I was hopefull of having a full frame but was informed that it uses the glass to atach to the body and not a hatch frame and I do not feel comfortable relying on a 1/8th in thick lexan window to hold up on my street/strip car.

the glass does not hold it in - it has a full fiberglass frame

who ever told you that is probably thinking of a third gen hatch

when I called vfn the representative told me it was not full frame. however if it is full frame I am interested because then I can give my gf the stock hatch to use on her bird once I find a new spoiler.

IN THE WEIGHT REDUCTION STICKY..........................

Got curious about a pin on/ lexan hatch.... got in a argument with i guy cuz i said it was a 75# reduction from the stocker......

Lexan sitting next to it. just Weighed it......10#
Stock Hatch w/o glass(mine window got busted outta it) 58#....just weighed it also

So......
10 Lexan Window
8 Hatch - VFN Hatch 93-02 is posted as 8# on their site
2 hardware
20# total

EDIT
Stock
58 Hatch
30??? Glass maybe
... hatch dampeners & hinges
... hatch lock/latch
...
88#

So depending how far off i was on guessing the window weight it came to 68# weight reduction

SO IF ANYONE HAS A STOCK REAR WINDOW FOR A INSTALL U SHOULD TOTALY WEIGH IT

I cant imagine it being 75lbs of wieght saving as the rear hatch isnt horribly heavy then again Ive never been good at guesssing wieght. well I know what im doin this summer so long as vfns hatch is realy a full frame
