Default Track times: M6 + cc306 + full bolt-ons!

I was able to hit the track last night after tracking down my little ignition problem. Since it got fixed I hadn't been able to do any WOT runs but my bro said the car was running strong without any hiccups.

I pulled the front sway bar and took off to the track. All runs were back to back after a 60mile drive so I didnt expect much but just wanted to make sure the car was running 100%. Here's the runs:

1st pass: Launched at 2K and spun through 1st & 2nd (vid) then short shifted and tagged the limiter. Also had a miss up top that didnt let the RPM's keep going.

60ft-----2.1
1/8th----8.56@87.9mph
1/4mi----13.0@xxx (timer was off on right lane)

2nd pass: Launched at 1650rpm and bogged pretty bad out of the hole. Shifted just short of 7K according to my stock tack, then tagged the limiter in 3rd, and tagged the limiter right before 4th gear. The miss didnt show up till a little after 6.5K RPM then goes away for a split second till the shift point.

60ft-----2.0
1/8th----8.34@88.1mph
1/4mi----12.79@111.7

Final pass: Figured there was still more left in the car since my 60ft was pretty shitty. Spun the BFG's longer through the burnout box and then staged right after the burnout instead of rolling through the lights and coming back. Launched at 3K and the tires bit real hard off the line. Tagged the limiter in every gear and the mss was still present up top.

60ft-----1.78
1/8th----8.1@85.9mph
1/4mi----12.68@xxx (timer off on right lane)

After that last pass I decided to call it quits in fear of breaking my rear since the 3K RPM launch made the tires bite and pin me in the seat pretty hard. Im not sure what the miss is attributed to, Im leaned towards maybe weak springs(prolly not but the car dies up top), wires tied together, or coil.

Not bad considering all the problems in street trim, but I guess I have more wrenching to do.

In my opinion those are real good times considering you were running in street trim. I could see real low 12s possible high 11s with a more strip oriented set-up. Good job.

Im running on 315/35/17 BFG Drags with 20psi. What seemed off was my mph hour compared to last time I went on street tires. With the same 2.0 60ft on 16" street tires I went 12.7@114mph. Im guessing the added weight from the 17" setup slowed me down a bit compared to my 16" snowflakes.

At least I know my new McCleod disc grabs hard and didnt slip a bit. Im gonna put some more miles then power-shift into the 11's. Im thinking of ditching the cc306 cuz damn those shifts are tricky when the tach flys past 7K and don't know when the limiter is gonna kick in.

Shift light is much cheaper than a cam swap

I have a Stewart Warner digital tach with built in shift light. The shift points are set at 6500 RPM so I know to shift soon, but it never comes on. The highest RPM that it saw down the track was 5900rpm for some odd reason. When I launched at 3K according to the digital gauge, my stock tach was at 3600rpm IIRC. For some reason the tach is off in the higher RPM. Im thinking of getting a pencil style shift light or something similar that can be mounted out of the way.

nice times man! I am running the same cam but with ported stock heads. Car laid down 370rwhp with some minor issues. I was hoping to pull around 114mph at the track. If you're doing that already with stock heads, then I may need to raise my expectations!

I was surprised that the car cut a 1.7x 60ft, sure felt like the wheel would have come up if I had skinnies. My old TransAm didnt feel like it launched that hard when it cut a 1.6x 60ft, I love 6-speed just cant get the car to shift where I want it because of the stock tach and crappy shift light.

Can anyone recommend me a shift light that actually works LOL?

nice mph

seems with stock heads the cc306 stops making power around 6100-6200rpm if that helps at all

mine seems to top out there and i have ported heads haha. im going to play with the timing and put some race fuel in there and see if it goes any faster. but currently im right there with the same times as him. 8.0's @ 88. but i need to cut some weight. this car is untouched except for the engine.

Im gonna try bumping the shift points down to 6500 or 6600 and see what happens. Seems that my 1/8th mile times were faster when I short shifted than when I tagged the limiter at 68000 rpm.

I want to dyno my car and see if its anywhere near your fireman LOL!!!! Ever run your car down the track?

What was the DA when you were making your passes? The MPH does seem low.

this could be because you're shifting well beyond the optimal point which be more along 6300~ rpm

88mph doesn't seem low to me, pretty much a 112mph in the 1/4 which is fairly on par for your average cam only lt1
