I have a set on my Z28, I have around 450 HP and Im not impressed with them at all. I wouldnt waste my money. Go with a set of M/T Street Radials!

Absolutely no way to compare a "street" tire to ANY drag radial. For a street tire, the HTRZ III is good. A lot of people like the Vredstein Sessantra Ultracs, about twice the price. I've been quoted $100 for the 275/40/17 HTRZ III's. I don't really think any street tire impresses anyone with over 400 rwhp.

Budget tire. +1 on Redlinez comment, these are in no way a drag radial, so I don't see how most people expect them to hook amazing. If you're looking for a tire to drive, and hit the track a bit, they'll work, but i'd go with something else if you're going for an occasional race tire They're cheap already, so if the pair from your friend is used they'll be dirt cheap. I'd say go for it.

As far as DD duties, when it rains they're about the worst i've had. Dry traction pretty decent on the street. For the track i would get something else.

Now if they're reeeaaaal cheap, then buy em and burn em up everywhere and decide for yourself!

for a DD in the rain, HRTZ's are scary. I have them right now and won't get them again for that reason. dry, they work OK.

the original HTRZ have a horrible tread wear, if you have a lead foot, they last about a month. The HTRZ II are better but aren't available in a 315, although i got a huge bubble in a 275/40/17 i had. So either you can buy two sets of sumitomo's or 1 set of another brand. I won't ever buy another set of their tires.......period!

My buddy had a set of Sumitumos on his stock GT rims, on his '04. After a year, they still looked basically brand new. It's his DD and he has more of a lead foot than anyone that I know. Now, he stepped up to the 315's on his 17x10.5" Bullitts. And they most definately don't hook worth a crap. And with his mods, he shouldn't be making any more than 260rwhp. He's only got a CAI, TB spacer, MAC O/R Prochamber, and Flowmaster catback.

I have them front and rear, 315/35R17's in the back, they SUCK, I am at around 350whp with an auto and it spins really bad 1st through 2nd. I also say that the only good thing about them is the price, I like the fact that I can get sideways everywhere I go without really caring that im destroying the tires, but on the flip side they scare the **** out of me. Add me to the list of people that say they are **** in the rain too.

The fronts came on the wheels when I bought them and they wore down real fast, I bought the rears new, even new they were really slick on dry ground.

So, if you wanna play alot get em, if you want performance get something else.

damn this is sad. i just got some ttm's with used sumis on them and actually liked the tread pattern. the 315/35/17 sumi rears seemed to be good from a 30-40 punch for me and much better than my vredestein 275/30/19 rears. i have yet to go from a dig.

i already changed out the front 275/40/17's for new sumis thinking that they were a good tire since a lot of people and their moms was running these on here. now all this talk about poor launches and terrible wet traction is going to hurt my wallet when i have to get new rears.

every body and their moms are running them cause they are cheap as ****. The guy wanted an opinion on them performance wise, and they suck, but half of us that know that would still buy them because we are cheap asses. I would just because I like that I can get it sideways with out thinking how much it costs me each time, I can trash a set of sumi's and just buy another set. But im not gonna put them back on the front, I have had a few times that the front tires slid during mild cornering.

For just DD driving they work great. Anything more and I can make them melt. They smoke quite well.

I'm running a stock LT1 and my HTRZ's (275/40) broke loose on me taking a right turn at a stop sign and went sideways in to a curb taking out 2 tires in the process. I wouldn't buy them if I had to do it all over again.

For street tires you cant beat them! I have them in 255/50-16 and my buddy has them in 315s and he loves them. Obviously if you need traction switch tires for the track. No street tire will hook for me anyway, sometimes its even hard for me not to spin my mt drag radials on the street lol. They are good in the rain as long as you dont drive like an idiot! Of course when they get down to 2/32 tread the wet is noticibly worse but by that point just buy a new set
