I have a 2000 WS6 and i am getting a check engine light for the EGR. Code P0405 and P1404. i was wondering what would cause this and waht i need to do to fix it. the car seems to not have as much power and is gettting really bad gas millage.

Thanks alot,

Well pending on your state emissions if you have any you might want to remove it. if not im sure someone here has one laying around they can send you. Ill be taking mine off in about about a week seeing as i have no emissions in fl =D

Hey Matt, I have a 2000 WS6 also and I had the same problem as you. The dealer told me the pintle in the EGR valve was sticking and also told me it was $600 to replace and clean!! I know, total rip-off so I did it on my own. Its pretty easy to replace and clean out the deposited carbon (I didn't have any carbon residue so I didn't have to do any cleaning up there). I live in CA so I couldn't just take mine off...let me know when you do yours cause honestly I didn't really notice much of a difference when I changed mine.

P0405- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit Low
P0404- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Range/Performance

buy a used egr valve or just delete the system.

It is only 2 bolts to take it off and see if it is sealing.

Another thing it could be is that it is leaking where the tube goes into the intake. There's an o-ring that seals it. I've seen those codes pop up before when it was leaking.
