trick flow heads vs afr/edlebrocks by west coast cylinder
Boosting a 370 cubic inch 6.0 iron block looking to make decent numbers like 700-900 at the wheels and thinkin i should go with aftermarket casting for the thicker deck surface(dont wanna push water) i was told these three being some of the best. wondering if anyone has any experience or preference with any of these three? any help would be greatly appreciated!

i have a friend that used 225 trickflows out of the box on a LS2 364ci built motor on 28psi and it made over 1200wheel but he pushed water at 20psi or so.
for 900wheel no matter what you get you should be fine. the trickflows need longer push rods a roller rockers to use them. afrs do not but trick's have better mid-lift flow
so its a win win no matter what you do

For 700-800hp Id save the money and get PRC CNC head for 900hp and up aftermarket deck is worth it Id would look into the trickflows very nice head. Right now im stuck between PRC aftermarket casting head and the trickflows only cause i need a 6bolt head.

mine will be turbocharged im think aps twin kit. so he still pushed water at 20 psi? hmm well idk and u said i need longer pushrods and roller rockers to run trickflow heads?

remeber pushing water is a function of pressure and therefore timing and fuel...its not only intake pressure that will cause it. Im pretty sure there have been people that run 20 pounds on stock castings and dont push water. im not saying dont run thick decks, just that its impossible to say X head will push water at a given boost level.

pushing water has lot to do with other things then boost ive seen people run 24psi on stockcasting head that were just ported by PRC.
A heavy car or alot of boost early in the rpm range rises psi up alot and might push water.
Because it a turbo car i would lean to aftermarket casting

yea for sure i know timing has a lot to do with it, im going with 225 trickflows, i figure i might as well spend the extra money and try and prevent pushin water with atleast the thicker deck surface. thanks for the advice!

Its one of the Speed inc. street twins they used to make before APS came out with DDBB 67's. I still have AFR's on the black car and they are nice so don't get me wrong its preference when this stuff comes into play really heads aren't as important in FI as when you are talking N/A, but if they make more power N/A then in theory they should make more power or the same at a lower boost level. And all the great N/A combo's I've been putting together for people have been using theTFS heads. I don't think you can beat them with out spending considerably more money etc...

I'm using the edelbrock from WCCH. I've had no problem with them. Fast shipping too. I've run up to 18psi ( 900-950 range ) and never pushed water. I should be turning it up a little higher soon.

Well like I said in the earlier post they are DD BB precision 67's with P-trim exhaust housings, Twin walbro's intank #8 feed, using stock as the return, That was an old cam I had designed to be used with a S/C but the deal I had with a person fell through and then I bought the turbos from Jim at Speed Inc.The cam was 236/240 on a114+4 low 600's lift on XER's and that was on 15# of boost and it was also at 4800rpm's as it would start floating the valves after that, if it would have carried it would have been considerably more I believe but haven't been back since the heads and cam change I am guessing it is in the same range currently etc... Its a LS2 based 402 Lunati crank, Howard rods and Mahle pistons with TFS 235's although at the time of the dyno I had the TFS 225's on there with LS6 intake on 93 octane

ic yea them seem like pretty damn good numbers. i was going to go with a 402 but texas speed said to stick with the stock stroke for boost. they also did the cam specs... so i have 370, stock crank, 6.0 iron block, diamond pistons, eagle rods, ls2 intake, trickflow 225's 92 mm tb, 80lb injectors, lonnies performance fuel pump good for 1000 plus, my cam is 114+2 i believe and its 228/234 581/598 and im thinkin ill prob run the twin aps intercooled kit on 93 octane, run alchy later maybe. compression should be right around 9.2-1 with my piston/head/gasket combo have ne predictions what i should roughly make on 93 octane through a 6speed car with a good amount of boost?
