I looked on discount tire's web site and under the specs for a 275/40/17 it shows 11 inch as the widest rim you can put them on. I was thinking about running those up front on an 11 inch rim. Has anyone tried this?

NO!!!!

Get at least 295's besides protecting the wheels from curb rash it will be better on the sidewalls.

They will fit but the sidewalls will look rounded and stretched out. Like the posts above, you will have no curb protection. The tires will wear unevenly as well. Not a good idea.

most people run an 11" wheel so they can put on a wider tire...

Yeah I'm confused also as to why you would want to get an 11'' wheel and run 275's on it. Find out what it is you really want and then either get 315's or a 9.5'' wheel.

I think the best advice would be to run 275s on the front with the 11" wheel, and 315s on the back with a 9.5" wheel.

I agree, you would have to stretch the tires and that is dangerous for street use. Plus it would look retarded.

For a 11 inch wheel 315's is the safest bet.

Probably not a good plan man, if you want 275s on the front, stick with the 9s
