Default Trans builders inside please

ok so i got my old trans apart thinking i blew the rear planetary maybe. well i found no physical damage so far except for the clutches were starting to burn. the flexplat is also fine. no cracks were found. i had only reverse and lost all forward gears.only found a small amount of metal particles in the pan. the trans made a loud bang a second after going in to 2nd gear. this was during a 3400 footbrake launch and wot pull. its a billet fuddle 3600. with a trans go shift kit. my question is do you think its the pump or the valvebody? going to take those apart next. just wanted some thoughts on it from the pro's. thanks

I would first check the forward clutches and forward sprag assembly. Since you say you only have reverse.

did you have manual 1st and manual 2nd?

If you lost Drive and Manual 3rd...but have manual 1 and 2, it is your forward sprag. You will also need overrun clutches and steels.

well it wasnt the forward sprag. after further, closer inspection with better light i found the problem...the inside splines on the rear planet are gone! that would explain the very small amount of metal in the pan..
