radio, dome light, & trunk button not working
This is my buddys post on Puredominance.net.. just trying to spread it around to get some answers thanks guys!!!
I was in Dallas this past weekend switching parts with my brother. We installed an air foil, headlights and foglights. We also mounted his MSD ignition in my car but haven't actually plugged it in yet. I didn't start the car right after installing these things but when I started it on Sunday the radio wouldn't turn on at all. I couldn't get it to even display the time. I plugged in the factory radio and it wouldn't turn on either.
After digging around under the dash I found the the radio is still plugged in, but I also discovered that the hatch release button doesn't work anymore, and the dome light/rear view mirror lights don't work either. However when I press the hatch release I can hear a click coming from a box behind the glove box.
I checked all of the fuses and they are fine, so what else could be causing this?
Thanks for the help.
BTW he has the same car as me.. but stock 1995 Z28 camaro about 125k miles....
And he said he tested out the old fog lights and they started to smoke.....

I believe it is the "courtesy" fuse (I think that's what it's labeled/located in the dash fuse panel) that controls all of what you are having problems with. Get a volt meter and start poking around that circuit.

If there are any aftermarket items on that circuit then those would be the first things to check. Possibly a bad ground or a wire that is crossed. If not then you need to get the schematic and start checking all wires and grounds to see if perhaps wires are crossed or the insulation has been rubbed off...
