Default HELP: Lack of Fuel Pressure under WOT

Hey guys,

I've got a 2002 TA with only a couple bolt-ons. The car DOES have a Walbro aftermarket fuel pump in it. My problem is the fuel pressure will drop under WOT down to 45-47PSI or so. I've had it to the dyno several times and can't even make a full pass as the cars goes extremely lean. I've had the car numerous places and no one can figure out my issue. I've even replaced the fuel filter but that did not help. Any ideas?

At this point I'm thinking of running a completely new return type system with the regulator at the rail and using my feed line as the return. Can anyone give me a schematic or pointers of how this should be set-up? Or possibly send me pics of your system?
My email is: dtsngit@bellsouth.net

When you say numerous places have looked at it, how many have checked the pressure regulator that is built into the sending unit in the tank. Odds are, that is your issue. They are not replaceable as far as I know so you would need a new sending unit. They are expensive but shop around.

The sending unit is in the tank and is the part that you put the fuel pump on, it holds the pump, sends the signal to the gas gauge and has the regulator built in.
The F car is the odd ball of the bunch.

See brass looking piece circled in pic.

I took my regulator off because I have an AFPR now. It comes right off, I wouldn't see why they can't be found as a replacement part.

GM never made them replaceable so the tooling is too expensive for the aftermarket.

There are many GM FPRs available on eBay and they can also be sourced as a Delphi part. Just make sure it is the 58PSI model.

They all look like rail mounted/vacuum operated regulators.

Thanks for the responses guys. Does anyone have a pic of the fuel system at the tank? I've heard there is a return line that loops back in from a "T" or something. I'm trying to figure out what I'd have to do if I want to go with an AFPR at the rail.
