i want 440 rwhp
Hey guys, my t-a made 385 rwhp and 384 rwt with a 222-224 duration .566-.568 lift 112 LSA cam, exhaust, lid and fast 90\90.
I dont want to change cams, i love the driveabillity and torque with this cam.
Which set of heads would be best for this setup?
money is not a limiting factor, and i wonder if trickflow 215 would be badass for this setup?

Hey man I got a similar mild cam, Im making 448 to the wheels, i went with a set of ported 243's i paid 500 bucks just for the stockheads and a ported fast 90 and thats on a automatic. obviuosly i spend most my money on the porting. go to the dyno forum and look up 243 thread and you will see my numbers.

You're going to need some great heads to hit 440 considering that you've got all the bolt-ons now plus staying with the 224 at 385 RWHP. Gaining 55 RWHP from heads alone on a smaller cam isn't impossible by any means but it's not easy either. I'm sure a lot of it will depend on the tune. As mentioned I would go with an LS6 type head like maybe the PRC stage 2.5's or if you've got the money then maybe some AFR's or Trick Flows. Seems the trick flows are making killer numbers and would be your best shot at achieving max power out of your combo. FWIW I'll be installing a bigger cam with AFR 205's and my goal is going to be 440RWHP also but on the LS6 intake/TB.

appreciate your answers guys, i am wondering if the 215 trickflows are better or maybe i should get the afr 205?
i havent seen many results from these heads, especially the 215 trickflows on smaller cams like the one i have.
i was recomended these heads from my tuner
jclynn sounds like you have a factory freak
my car has a shitload of miles, but i guess with the mods i have i should be about average with this cam hp and torque wise?

My personal choice would to go with a set of AFR 205s with Tony Mamo's added magic touch of porting.
I gained 18rwhp and 15rwtq (under the curve) from just Mamo's porting.
See my post in the Dyno Comparassions section for details.

He will be really close on his 440hp goal. With the 224 cam and a kick *** set of ported afr heads and a port matched 90/90 fast intake. Might want to also look into a set of 1 7/8 headers.

so afr205>trickflow 215? also where can i get the heads ported and for how much?
I have pacesetter longtubes, custom y with flowmaster merge and hooker catback. k&n lid, fast 90 with NW 90mm TB.
Should i also get a bigger MAF or do these just cause trouble?
Car is M6 btw.

Tony also does an A+ job on porting the FAST 90/92 intakes. I havnt had him port mine....yet.
Call Tony directly at AFR for the details on the port work he does.

If you can afford it, Tony Mamo @ AFR is the one to do the porting.
Lot's of good information here in the thread Michael02hawk was referring to:
Tony knows as much about LS1's, and the combination required to make good power out of one, as anyone here. Contact him the the PM link above, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. He can also help you get the most from your 90/90 setup as well.
Your current numbers may be a little on the low side compared to some of the lofty figures that get thrown around out there. If the mileage is really a factor, a compression/leakdown test would point to the culprit. If it turns out you have a poor valve seal for example, new heads could be the best way to go. If you have compression leaking past the rings, you may need to address the health of the shortblock.
You should have enough cam to reach your goals with a good quality cylinder head. Don't forget that Tony's "Blue Pill" combo is a 224/228 114 cam, just a hair bigger than your cam. With attention to detail and proper tuning, you can get there.

The reality is as good as our CNC programming is (and anyone else's for that matter short of some ultra exotic programs found in the one off big dollar stuff), in a production environment there will always be room for more in the hands of a very capable cylinder head expert. The fact I designed the original prototype enables me to know exactly what area's to finese that might be sensitive to flow and respond with some gains. Basically, I take a reeaaally good CNC piece and I perfect it essentially.

Back on point if your trying to hit 440 I would invest in a set of AFR's. Proven performance IMO along with ETP heads
