Question Where is this oil coming from!?!

After my recent clutch install i have noticed a problem...


Why is my car leaking oil!?! i just replaced my rear main seal and put a hefty bead of silicone over the whole thing... im almost possitive it couldn't be my rear main but idn what else would be leaking?? maybe the oil pan?? does anyone have any ideas?? i dont want to pull this whole trans again just to look..

oil pan or the intake. put your hand ont he back of the intake where it meets up to the block and see if its wet

can't be the intake.. just took it off about 2 weeks ago and put fresh silicone and gaskets on it and checked it all with a mirror.. could the oil pressure unit be leaking??

kind of off subject but i though mine was leaking from there until i touched it and it was radiator fluid from the crossover pipe... but i could be oil

thats wierd you say that.. cuz today when i noticed one of the drips on the ground, i thought it looked a little green.. how could i tell for sure if it was coolant?

it'd be pretty obvious if it was coolant, and in the pictures it looks more like oil, but then again thats just me viewing a picture over the web.

why would the oil be dripping where the bellhousing/trans meet instead of where the engine/bellhousing meet?

Remember it also could be your rear main seal as oil will sling in the bellhousing and go everywhere. Pull the inspection plate and feel in there to see if there is oil. Also, to check the intake stick your hand on the back of the intake near the top of the tranny and feel for oil/grease and then you should have your answer.

Things to check:

Intake leak (rear)
Oil Pres Sending unit (back of intake under EGR)
Rear Main Seal
Oil Pan Gasket

well took the car to a buddy's shop last night and got it on a lift... sure enough its either the rear main or oil pan. its leaking bad too.. a few drops every hour.. hopefully tonight we'll be able to use his lift and pull it all back apart

get a couple cans of brake cleaner spray everything down it will make it alot easier to find a leak when its clean under there good luck hope you find it let us know what you find out after you get it on the lift
