Default cam selection help

ive been reading the cam/valvetrain selection guide on the site, and ive lowered my choices down to 5.
CC 502-218/224 .528/.537 112lsa w/ 1.6RR's
CC 305-220/230 .544/.544 114lsa w/ 1.6RR's
CC 503-224/230 .537/.544 112lsa w/ 1.6RR's
XFI 466-218/224 .570/.565 113lsa w/ 1.6RR's
GM 846-222/230 .543/.563 112lsa w/ 1.6RR's
LPE 211/219-211/219 .530/.560 112lsa w/ 1.6RR's

any suggestions or recomendations to what will work well with stock heads? Is a tune required for the computer? And what else would do i need to purchase pushrods, rocker-arms, springs and retainers? Does it make sense and is it cheaper to go with new assembled heads? Such as Patriot Performance 2046 heads?(specs below)

Technical Specs:
Combustion Chamber: 58cc
Intake Runner: 195cc
Exhaust Runner: 70cc
Intake Valve: 2.02"
Exhaust Valve: 1.60"
Max. Valve Spring Lift: 0.550"
Spring Pressure Closed: 130 lbs. @ 1.800"
Spring Pressure Open: 45 lbs. @ 1.250"
Retainer Material: steel
Valve Seal Material: Viton
Valve Guide Material: Manganese Bronze
Valve Job: 5-angle

What will have more of a horsepower gain, new heads or a new cam? im thinking it makes more sense to get new heads and then get a new cam later that matches the heads? THANKS ALOT! IM JUST TRYING TO DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE BLOWING MY CASH!!

Lunati for the win, same lobe design used by one of the more popular "custom grind" cams promoted on this website with proven results. Throttle response is amazing and couldn't be happier overall. Link to dyno vid in sig on stock shortblock/ stock heads.

that is the biggest emmisions friendly cam they had in the voodoo line 219/227 at .050 advertised 270/278 with a 112 lsa but if you read on the website and the reason I went with Lunati is their ramp speeds. Their lobe design is more aggressive than some other off the shelf cams. You can clearly see it on the lobes that it opens the valve really fast then sets it down a little bit slower but till a pretty steep lobe.

those heads look good on paper but from what I have seen most aftermarket heads (besides AFR they are decent) leave much to be desired right out of the box. They still need to be sent to a reputable machinist to do the porting. Depending on what your goals for the car are you might be better off with ported stock heads. The people who opt for aftermarket heads and then have them ported are making more power than a stock head can flow ie. aftermarket heads have a little bit more material to port out so you can potentially open them up a little but more. By you pointing out a 190cc head than that is not what you are looking for, it seems to me like a daily driver/weekend warrior that you would like to maintain streetability. In that case I would definately say ported stock heads with a lunati or a custom grind (personally I am a fan of lunati) to give you the results you seem to be looking for.

thanks for the great suggestion, a daily driver with ok driveability (i can handle some lope in the cam, not rediculous though)/road warrior is exactly what im aiming for..when you added the lunati cam, what did you have to do with the valvetrain? 1.6 rr's? different pushrods? etc. also, since i live in hawaii, i know theres no good machine shop to port these...any suggestions?

As always, I hate to sound like a broken record but Advanced Induction or Loyd Elliot all have a gang of followers, I personally am going to go with Lloyd, he will set you up with the springs and locks than all I would recommend getting a good 1.6 roller and some good pushrods that are the correct length!!! You are also going to need injectors, headers, stall and tune to get the best results/ most reliable set up. I would also suggest a timing set while you are in there and have a look at that opti (normal maintenance)

That last cma sounds great I don't know what your shortblock is like but that is something that you don't need to spin to the moon to get your power out of it, make sure you do your research do it right do it once. There are a lot of supporting mods that can add up to well more than the cost of a cam and some heads!

A mail order tune like Madtuner or PCMforless would get it close. If you want an awesome tune go to a Dyno.
