So close to 10s! - First time out
Well I got the car back from the tuners about a month or so ago, and had been working out various bugs with the car (tranny fluid issues, fouling plugs, plug wire problems etc) and was dyin to get it out to the track to really see what it was gonna do.
The setup is a 347 with stock crank, compstar rods, and mahle pistons (about 9.3:1 CR). 226/223 .590ish 115 cam, stock 317 heads, and ls6 intake. The kit is a used old HiFlo Turbo kit I picked up in fall of 2007 from TURBO LS1 SS on here (specs in sig).
Finally got it out to the track for some shake down runs and see how the setup performed last night. I was a little disheartened on the dyno when the car only made 450rwhp/550rwtq on 91 octane pump gas with 9.5psi of boost through a 3 disc PI Vigilante locked thru a steel driveshaft, stock 10 bolt, and heavy 17x11 wheels. But, this proved to not matter and the car ran some pretty decent times and kinda surprised me considering the 2700DA. I think the weak 60's are because I had the converter setup from PI for around 600rwhp, and I'm thinkin its a little shy of that still on pump gas
I got all teched and checked the 315 MT radials, took em down to 20psi - ended up leaving them there as the car hooked there great all night. Raceweight was just over 3600. Keep in mind - 17" ZR1s, heater, stereo nice-weather-driver street car.
First pass - good burnout, left the shifter in D and took it up to around 2400ish resulted in:
.337
1.76
4.7
7.2
97.82
9.425
11.252
123.38
Second pass - about the same as previous, worse 60'. I tried bringing the car up to the most the breaks would hold, but that kinda didnt work out too well.
.078
2.036
5.004
7.513
97.84
9.674
11.496
123.89
Third run - Tried flashing the converter to see if it would get out better, not as much luck - tried another RPM, I think it was a hair too low.
.106
1.825
4.816
7.328
97.81
9.490
11.314
123.77
My last run was my best - I think because it had cooled off some as the 60' was similar to the first pass...
.171
1.745
4.715
7.220
98.10
9.377
11.197
123.94
Overall I'm very pleased with the car. I honestly thought going out there it'd be running around 11.5-11.6@120ish, so I was pleasantly surprised, and the fact that it was consistent makes me feel pretty good about the setup etc. All the hard work and headaches finally paid off right after that first pass and seeing that MPH, couldn't believe it, I honestly didn't think it'd run anywhere close to that with the dyno numbers I'd seen and been so bummed about. Now I'm hoping for a cold front this weekend to get it out again and hopefully hit 10s. Time will tell, but so far I'm happy. May have to play with more octane/boost before too long

looks pretty good man.
hopefully some of the "lost" power can be found.... pretty damn good breakdown runs
Edit: LOL I said breakdown runs

Thanks. 12.0:1 a/f, and I think the timing is 18* if I remember right. Tuner played with less timing and even as low as 11.2:1 a/f, and it spooled like a dog. So far it seems to be safe this way, as I also ran 93 instead of the 91 he used on the dyno to make sure there was no chance of detonation. I'm not real sure about the horsepower reading, as when I got the car back I had to hunt down a misfire which was a tear in a sparkplug wire that had become brittle (old set of wires), and also the tranny was low on fluid and may have been slipping a bit on the dyno. Yeah the converter is a little on the tight side, as I can only get the car up to about -2 on the vac/boost gauge, if I could launch on boost it'd be a lot better 60'. I also need to invest in a better torque arm, antiroll bar, and some rear QA1s - those would all prob help as well.
