Default Thinking about trying the new COMP LSR 231/239 cam..

So, the LS1 goes in in a week. I want to cam in, it'll be a stock bottom end with longtube headers and maybe an LS6 intake manifold. I haven't found much on the 231/239, i guess because its so new. It's advertised as a great broad power range. This will be going in my daily driver. Its lift is .617/.624. Would COMP 918 springs that are good for .625 be good enough for this setup? How would it be for a daily driver?

nooo way, comp 918s are rated to .625, and you want atleast some room for error. comp 918s are only good for smaller setups, others will disagree but any engine builder will not recommend those springs especially with that large of a cam. i was told by multiple people to upgrade the springs for the cam in my sig, im glad i did as they were only a $125 more than the comp 918s.

as far as the cam, a dd cam really depends on alot (miles driven per day, how hard you drive, if u drive in the winter, ect) but id say thats really agressive for a dd.

Ok. I might go with a Patriot spring kit. I like the LSR series, but the 231/239 was the first one rated for 5.7L and up, figured it might be a nice cam

Thats probably a little too hot for a DD.

Is this a stick or auto? Are gears a part of the budget?

The second cam you said your considering is WAY milder than the first one but is probably more of what your looking for.

380 with the COMP or Patriot? I prefer drivability over squeezing every ounce of HP out of my car, plus I want a good down-low torque.

380 with the patriot, good drive ability and good power down low, i like TSP 228R more than that patriot though, same in ever aspect but would have given you an extra 5-10HP all around
