Default Any computer litterate people??? (help)

having an issue with my laptop, well more like Internet explorer, well here's the problem, if I use internet explorer to surf the web (which I do it's my default browser) it wont load any of the web pages, but I have a steady conection to the net..but however, if I use Internet Explorer 64-bit it works just fine, minus a few plug ins that it doesnt have like the flash player...getting tired of not being able to watch vids and such that everyone post...anyone have an idea on what it could be?...I have a feeling it's somthing simple like clicking a box and enabling somthing...but I'm no computer smart guy...

Go to tools, internet options, advanced and look under the browsing category. uncheck "show friendly HTTP errors". This setting dumbs down the error message, with this unchecked you should get a detailed error when loading a page that you may not have been getting previously. Please also list the version of IE you are running, go to help and about internet explorer from the browser, that display the version.

you could also try clearing out your internet cache (cookies, files, as well as history)...on that note, what are your connection settings in IE? Perhaps its configured for proxy when none is needed with a direct connection...

Use firefox, it works much better. There are only certain webpages that I use IE for due to compatability issues.

I have a feeling that microsoft has to know about this. It is happening to a LOT of people right now and all I can say is make sure you are up to date on all your updates and try to redownload internet explorer 8. Sometimes this fixes it and sometimes it does'nt, and if it does'nt do as someone else said and clear everything to try and free it up. Good luck! I went with firefox, never thought I would but it is so much easier and no problems whatsoever.

and from my past and personal experiances, go with eAcceleration's Stopsign anti-virus program. Its like $50 bux or so, but the service in un-beatable. I have it on every computer I own and ever will.
