man id get a dog a monkey could be unpredictable if you dont know how to handle and train it right. IDK it would be cool to have a monkey but from that video id say definately buy a gun if you get a monkey so if that bastard goes ape **** you can take care of his ***.

For the fight, the monkey would have to be untrained, of course a trained killer monkey would whip up on a donkey.

beagles bark, dig, and howl a lot
Akita WILL kill something (one of the very few breeds that will purposefully challenge its master with violence; unless you've spent a lot of time around them consider anything else). And no, its not like a pit bull.
Monkeys are crazy
try a prarie dog or something

Assuming you actually mean a monkey when you say monkey, and not say a chimpanzee, then I would go with the dog. It also depends on the breed of dog, but in generaly monkeys are not very big. The biggest would probably be a baboon. Dog's have been bred to hunt and kill much larger animals, although they normally hunt in packs. Dogs bred to hunt and kill large game(dogo argentino, fila, etc.), or big mastiff breeds(presa canario, neapolitan, tosa, boerboel, bullmastiff) i think would easily win. Against a chimpanzee(Ape), I don't know. Chimps can weigh in the upper 100#'s and are very strong, and aggressive. Maybe if a large game bred dog got ahold of their throat it could win, but chimps can kill a human easily, and I don't know of too many dog breeds that can. I say toss up against the chimp.

My grandparents used to have a monkey a long time ago. They said it would ride on the outside of the car or something. lol. They had all kinds of animals: cats, dogs, rabbits, a monkey, a rooster. lol.

chimpanzee's are not monkey's they are apes. I would definately advise against getting a chimp they are very aggressive and dangerous once they get older. As far as i know monkeys are not aggressive, they are supposed to be nice. Probably messy and alot more time and effort to take care of them than a dog. Ls1tech probably won't have much to offer as far as information on owning a monkey as a pet.
I 2nd AGRV8D, on akita's. They are a large dog orginally bred for hunting and fighting. They can be stubborn and will require you to be firm with them. They can be aggressive.
The beagle is a hunting dog usually friendly, that have alot of energy, and if they smell or see something will probably want to chase it. They also do not like being couped up and apparently like to escape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3YR_DfnYpE

Anything inparticular you are wanting a dog for. You could just adopt one if you are looking for a companion. Or try a rescue group. usually they have rescues for specific breeds like mastiff rescue, boxer rescue, etc.

I don't know much about monkeys/apes. I mean like a regular monkey like;

I do know that when I was in Egypt there was a small "petting zoo" by a gas station with a monkey that looked exactly like that pic in a cage, and it was anything but nice. Of course if I was stuck in a cage 24/7 I would have acted exactly the same way.
I think a donkey would have a tough time with the thing I saw in that cage...
