New motors, how much more power once they've fully broken in, if any ??
Not sure if this is the correct section, but I am sure a mod can move it if I am posting here in error.
Like the title says, do newly built motors after being fully broken in make anymore power ??
I ask this question because some people make such a big deal about "and these dyno numbers are with only 29 miles on the car" and other comments like "she'll make even more once she loosens up" . Does anyone have a graph for there newly built motor, and then another graph 2000+ miles later showing a gain, loss, or same output ??
Thanks in advance.

Yes, engines make more power (assuming they're being maintained properly) as life goes on.
I've done a couple of 347's just as of late that have made 10-18 more rwhp with 2-3,000 miles compared to what they did with 500 miles. Nothing else was changed other than mileage.
Moving this to the proper section for you.

Thanks for all the replies everybody.
Still looking for graphs though. I'd really like to see some graphs that were from a new FORGED motor, or even new crate motor that was heat cycled several times, a couple oil changes, and tuned then dyno'd for a baseline number. Then that same motor with a couple thousand on the clock that was redyno'd. What were the new numbers ??
Anyone ??

/\ - What he means by that is beating the **** out of it.
I know guys who came out of the dealership sideways with 3 miles on the clock of their 01-02 F-bodies, and 10,000 miles later the cars were running 12's bone stock. Then I've seen people who've babied their car for 20,000-30,000, and can't even get out of the 13.50's.
On aftermarket motors, I do recommend giving at least a 500 mile break in period to let everything seat. After that, drive that damn thing like you stole it.

I've gotten on it, but I let it run until she's completely warmed up. I did exactly as LGM said on the drive home, keep the rpms varied and change the oil immediately before I start driving it regularly. I'd assume after the 1200 mile drive home and pre break in that LGM did, and additional several hundred miles I've put on her back and forth to work on the weekends I'd assume she is good.
Looking fwd to seeing what she puts down next time I strap her to the dyno.

I fried the rears coming out of a dealers after getting a new LS1 fitted a few years ago, even banged the limiter . The dealer wasn't impressed but the motor was a strong one.
My VE/G8 was the same flogged it from day one and it ran a 13.5 bog stock in the heat and for a 4000 +lb car that was pretty good.
cheers

To answer your question, NO, I have another dyno that will be doing a baseline on the car before the new heads, headers and cam go in.
