4K Stall 2 much for DD?
Prob been asked b4 but i couldnt find anything...I have a 98 Z with 2.73's ive been thinkin about getting a Yank 3600 but was also interested in the 4K stall. Is that too much for a DD? What if I put some 3.42's in it? Still too loose?

A 4k stall is way overkill on a stock cam. With 2.73's it will feel loose and be a nightmare driving around town. I would be looking at something like around 3200 maybe? My tuner is an engineer and nationally known. He told me to go no bigger than a 3400 with 3.73's and stock internals. With the stock cam you miss the peak of the torque curve with a 4k stall. So I guess go for the 2800-3200 range and get a 9" converter that way if you get bigger stuff down the road you can get a restall.

With the mods you have I would not go with a 4000. I ran a SS3600 on a stock cam and it was fine. Did heads/big cam and went to the SS4000. 3600you will not regret it...

yea thats why i think ima compromise with the 3600, i think id get so sick of drivin a 4000 lol. I'm def gonna put my stock catback on with a cutout, im already getting sick of the LM2. Its like driving a garbage truck, sorta.

^ is that true? I couldnt imagine what its gonna feel like with whatever stall I get. I heard launching from a stall would feel similar to getting slammed in the back by a speeding Semi. How long does the 10 Bolt usually last from launching with a stall? lol

With a stock cam and those gears a 4000 will be a bit much. Particularly if you run a high str. A lower str and a 3600 will be much better.

running the pt4000 on a stock cam. Driving it around doesnt bother me. I plan on getting heads and a fairly large cam.
Get the stall to suit your future mods. Its still gonna be faster than the stock stall even if its not right for the stock cam.

PT4000 with stock internals and stock 3.23 gears. It take a little getting used to. I wouldn't get anything less were I to do it again.
A stall is easier on your trans during part throttle operation. Just have a good cooler.
If you have a loud exhaust, that might get old after riding around at 3000 rpms all of the time. With more gear it would be even more drivable and you could set your lockup speed a little lower as well.

depends on what else you want to do to your car. if your going to leave your 2.73 and leave the motor stock then i say 3k-3200.
4k is way to much for a stock car.
figure out what you want to do with the car and match everything to it.
good luck
