I drive a ss4400 every day. Its kinda loose, but its worth it. These cars love big converters. Im using a 4000 this year, hoping for a higher MPH.

You're on the right track, especially if you're planning on 3.42s in the near future. If in doubt, the proof is in the pudding here: Stock Internal ETs. Though, the cars on that list has weight reduction and more gear (numerically), it does give you a general idea of what big converters can do.

2.73's when I first got it. It was a bit weird with the 2.73's but I went to 3.42's shortly after and that helped a lot.

I have no trouble with my trans. (So far! )

Do yourself a favor and find someone with a car that has a high stall converter and take it for a drive. No one responding here can provide as much insight as you would gain by taking a ride in one.

I have an SS4000 with 342s on a car with H&C and I'd be bumming out if I had to DD it. It's no fun until you hammer it.

We just put a Midwest 3500 converter into my fiance's '98 T/A.. I was somewhat worried it was going to be too big, but boy was I wrong. I'd say its perfect for daily driving... however, her car's got 3.73s. It'd probably feel terrible on a car with 2.73s.
