Default Is a 00 LS1 the same as a 04 LS1

I have a 2000 WS6 and the engine has some miles on it. If I swap an 04 GTO LS1 into it can I plug in the existing harness and Pcm to the engine and be good to go or is there more to it? The BCM wont have any issues will it? Any help would be appreciated i found a good deal on an 04 GTO engine and may upgrade. Thanks

I'm 90% sure that the 98-00 LS1's had a larger camshaft than the 2001+ LS1's as well.

Yes, the 04 LS1 has the LS6 intake. So everything should be basically plug and play and I should be good?

How many miles are we talking about here ?

And the differences are the `04 has an LS6 intake and a smaller 6.0 truck cam. JMO but unlees the my engine was done I wouldn't be thinking about a swap at all.

Anyway the only hassle with the swap will be removing and disabling the EGR system since `01 up LS cars don't have it.

Are you talking about the full long block, or just the short block?

In other words, does the engine come with intake and other items?

As mentioned before, the cam in 2001+ LS1 was slightly smaller, but the LS6 intake made up for the difference. Plus if you use your headers/manifolds you'll have to block off all the egr ports and have that tuned out. May require a tune to compensate for the different cam specs, but that's just for optimal performance. The cam differences were small enough that it would be safe to drive right out of the box.

Do not use the PCM from the 04 as that's incompatible with your car (CAN bus).
