tachometer problem!
when i start my car up cold everything is working fine, but the last 2 days when i start the car up for the second time (like say when i was at wal mart coming home) the tachometer just sat at 0 for the whole drive home?never moved.. i haven't touched anything that would have to do with the tachometer. any suggestions what it might be?

I have this problem as well on my '98. I went in with a obdII reader and found an trouble code, i just deleted the code and the gauge started to work again.. for 1-2 ohurs and then it went totaly dead.. I dont know the actual problem, but certifyed gues is that some recistor or the coil for the tach has ben worn out.. witch realy sucks.

My tach went intermittent and now is generally dead. I have codes for cam sensors. The cam sensor can make the tach go intermittent or dead. If it does this you will have some other symptoms..harder to start and rough idle worse mileage. The car reverts to batch fire from sequential.
The cam sensor would set codes like 341, 342..Wierd how the tach is driven off it and wierder is my rpm still shows right on the scanner.

Same with mine.. starts great and runs great. havent found any codes for the sensor. bad fuse in the cluster then because there is none for just the tach otherwise.. I think a condenser or a diod has gone bad..
