Default cam swap. idle problems

i just finished a H/C swap on my 01 Ws6. PRC stage 2.5 5.3l heads and TSP 228R cam(228/228 .588 .588 on 112 LSA). the car runs fine except it just wont idle. it's not an aggressive cam but it takes 5-10 starts with help from the gas pedal just to get it to idle then if i drive down the road and come to a stop sign it dies. i tried drilling a hole in my TB(which didnt have one already) and that didn't help. also when it is about to die the headlights dim and i lose power for a split second which i don't know is normal or not. please help it's my DD!

Did you get it tuned yet, your A/F ratio is probably way off

Sounds like you need a tune and the lights dimming will go away once you get it to idle smoothly. Do you have the stock pulley? But other than that it all sounds natural just get a tune. I have that cam but stock heads and I went 11.91 on street trim. Good luck

Is this a serious thread? Dude.. you don't have a tune, OF COURSE IT DOESN'T WANT TO IDLE. Get a tune, then if it's having trouble at idle THEN check into problems.

This is what the site is for to get questions answered and learn. Nothing wrong with asking questions.

i know i need a tune but i think atleast the car should be driveable. i mean i cant even come to a stop without stalling out. after messing with the throttle blade idle screw i got it to idle fine but every time i give it gas it revs up to 2500 rpms and takes forever to come down, then when it does come down it randomly revs itself back up. i'll keep messing with it

unfortunately the TUNE is most important on these cars! get that done and then you will be happy!

Well.. you have the same cam as I do, altho you should be able to idle and drive fine with it maybe the heads are also causing issues? With all that stuff thrown together it's probably coming down to the tune to hold it together. Takes a lil bit for the computer to relearn the stuff to

The computer is not used the the new camshaft lift, duration and overlap, as well as the increase in compression. Thats why it wont run very well.

It may or may not get better, but get a tune ASAP and it will be fine after that.

I was getting a bad seal on the intake that was screwing with my idle because I milled the heads and used thinner head gaskets.
