IMO, with all the discussion and thought about this proposed rule change, it will become a rule eventually. It has been on/off/on/off in the last few months, indicating to me that NHRA wasn't prepared for the stink that was raised. My opinion is it will be sneaked into the rulebook in the middle of the winter with no fanfare, and hoping no one will know about it until its already in effect. Its obvious that NHRA WANTS this rule. We'll see, though.

I wish they'd make up their mind. I think I'll hold off on the conversion until it's set in stone though. I hope they don't change it though.

Brad you have nothing to worry about. PRP is an IHRA track.

Yeah I know but I want to be able to run anywhere. I'd like to make it to some of these shootouts or the ls1tech series races next year. A 10 pt really puts a damper on a street car.

we need up to the minute notification is the rule going to change or not, one day it is one day it isnt

i dont want to but i just might put a cage in instead of the roll bar for every time they change their mind.

how quick will a 10 point cage take you down to? there not making it have more then 10 points for anything quicker then 9.99 with t-tops are they?

Hawk, a cage is a cage most actualy are 6pt unless 2 diagnal bars go to tunnel or frame connectors[before everyone jumps on me the 2 side bars usually go to the front uprights so unless you have the 2 diags like i said and they are mandatory when cage is put on plates[pge 209 of rule book see diag. read D] if its a chassis car[ ie chevelle, malibu, corvetteanything with a full frame under it]the cage then has to be mounted to the chassis and dosnt require the 2 diags to tunnel. what else is needed are ,a window net, padding anywhere drivers helmet can contact[pge 203], and the instaler should put tabs for required shoulder harness [so its bolted to spine bar and cannot slip off you in case of accident]and if you go faster than 9.99 a chassis cert that should cover the basics ,so if you put a cage in and its not certified its good till 10.00. if you start running 9.99 or quicker it has to be certified thnx bob

Quote from the National Dragster issue 44,Vol 44, Nov 14th issue, bottom of page 5:
" On T-top-design vehicles with an unaltered firewall, floor, and body and running between 10.00 and 10.99, a roll bar is permitted in place of a roll cage."
