Default No start 1st try, start everytime 2nd try???

98 T/A bone stock

when you first start the car it will not start on the first turn of the key. it cranks and cranks but wont even begin to fire up. no matter how long or short you cranked the 1st time it will start right up with no problem the second time. even if you turn the key to on and back off and let the fuel pump prime a few times it wont start the first time. every once in a while it will start the first time after driving it and turning it off for a minute then starting again but not to often. its been like this since i bought it and i just got used to turning the key twice to start it but now im tired of it and need to address the problem. anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Run a full can of Sea Foam in a half tank of gas. After that runs almost all the way out change your fuel filter.

this sounds similar to my car. i replaced the fuel filter and fpr, thoses seemed to help but didn't really change anything. i replaced the fuel pump with a racetronix fuel pump and starts right away every time.

Also try swapping the ignition relay. I had the exact same symptoms early on when my ignition relay was starting to go bad. It's only 15 bucks too so go pick one up.

where is the relay your talking about? I just called the chevy house and he said there is no ignition relay only a starter relay. but the car cranks so its not the starter relay.

Sea Foam is great for GAS TANKS ONLY. I've been putting a can in half tank of gas, every 3-4 months, for 11+ years. It works to keep lines and fuel injectors clean.
