Default Anyone found or know the limits of LS7 clutch?

Just wondering about what some of you think the LS7 clutch can support, keep in mind, mine is a daily driver. I might be on ET street radials at the track the day I have a Midwest 9 waiting on the side.

i've heard that a stock C6 Z06 a few times down the track can make it slip...

My old 98 Formula made 377rwhp and made 26 passes in one day with the new owner and had no problems.

byunspeed and SDPC usually have them ready to ship. OP: weight of the car is a big factor. The LS7 clutch was built to handle 505HP but in a lighter car, over 500lbs lighter!

Between 3000-3100 lbs. I was considering replacing my LS7 since I'll be replacing my shortblock with a 6.0.

With your mods you have already passed the limits of the LS7 clutch.

It all depends on how you intend to drive the car. My LS7 is holding fine behind my 408. I haven't gotten to the dyno yet, but no signs of slipping at all. However, I don't run drag radials anymore and have no intentions of launching the car from a dig either. Great clutch for a street driven cruiser. Very happy that I went with the LS7 as a replacement for my Spec 3 that had 50K miles on it when I took it out.

Well, it held fine at the track running 121+ on street tires. I can't say I've tried my ET street radials.

That's good to hear. Pretty much the only negative comment you got in this thread about it was from a Monster clutch distributor. Go figure.

I wonder what clutch/flywheel kit I could replace it with that would be stronger, streetable, and comparable in price? I know this is like asking how do you do fast though. Mine weighs 3680 with me in it. Made 423 without cats, 413 with. That was with my Darts with 4 bent valves, horrible valveguides sucking down a quart every 1000 miles. They're fixed now, but it spun a rod bearing, so I'm going 6.0

My CETA went 11.15 @ 129 with the LS7 clutch setup. Car had PRC heads, MS3, FAST 90/90 and a 150 shot. Only had a 1.91 60ft on that run but was on worn out Hoosier QTPs. It was short shifted well below the 6800 limiter and a piece was broke off the #7 piston.

Me personally I would use the LS7 Clutch if I wanted to drive around with it. I got the Textralia so I could beat on it and it would still hold up.

Thinking about going LS7 w/ aluminum flywheel unless my LS7 looks good, then I'll be lucky and only need the flywheel.

Over 550 rwhp with a 100 shot and I haven't had a bit of trouble from mine. I have roughly 20K miles on the LS7 clutch so far -- so slipping, no sticking, etc.

That being said, I do typically just run a street radial and spend most of my time playing around at a roll (i.e. no hard launches, clutch slipping, etc.).
