Default anyone make a true light weight WS6 hood

as much as i like the Joe Van O' hood, i think it would look retarded if i had street wheels on.

that being said, does anyone make a stock looking light weight ws6 hood?

i'm wanting to switch to Zuess (sp?) fasteners to get rid of my hood latch assembly....

thanks

Have you looked at VFN?

Factory hood isn't that heavy. You can use traditional hood pins to secure it, to get rid of the latch. Here is how it looked on my '98 Formula.

I’ve looked at VFN’s site, but I’m trying to locate actual pics of their pin on WS6 hood on a car to see if it truly looks OEM.

I don’t really like the look of hood pins on TA’s, which is why I want to get zeus fasteners. and the hood now is too heavy to lift off with one person (about 25 lbs)

Is this a street car or a drag car? Why do you need a lift off hood anyways, most of us can do 100% of everything required with just a hinged hood. I found the hinged hood to be much easier to deal with at the track. Some companies sell fancy billet hood pin kits if you want something nicer looking. But, they are pricey:

50/50 street strip.

I’m making as much room as possible for my turbo setup, and well, it’d make more room with no latch assembly and look 10x better.

Here it is currently

I might get 2 pin’s like your pic for now, to get me by. If I sell this hood and go with a true light weight pin on, I’m going to have to pay a body shop to fill in the holes so I can resell easier.

I think a stock hood is about 50 lbs, and a bolt-on/hinge-type VFN hood is about 25 lbs. A pin-on one might be 14 lbs. Best bet would be to ask Jeannie or Mando. I'm pretty sure on the weights as I supplied them with the donor hoods.

Mine now is about 25lbs. it’s a US Exotics hood that they don’t make anymore. I think it was called the “outlaw” sits about an 1in higher in the cowl, but doesn’t have the heat extractors. I’m probably just going to go with hood pins. Not really the look I’m going for, but it’s the most cost effective for now.

WS6 hood isn't that heavy. Maybe the base Firebird steel hood.

My hood is one they quit making about 4 years ago. OEM nostrils, but the cowl sits about an in higher in the rear as you can see from the pic.

Someone else made me an offer via PM, you could too. there’s one blemish where someone backed into me at a bar a few years ago. I was quoted less than $125 to get it fixed at a body shop.

I’m going to PM the person interested in buying it a close up of it. if you’re interested I’ll send it your way too.
