Thumbs up My Trans Am Is Losing Weight...

So far my best track time this year was a 12.30 @ 115 with a 1.9 60' on 17" street tires. I have no ***** and i am afraid to put a DR on the car and launch it (M6).. Pretty crappy time considering i make 420 RWHP

But anyways, i put the car on a little diet... So far i have taken out the spare tire/jack and last night i removed the rear bumper support.

I think come fall i am going to put my 16" wheels back on and see if i can lower my E/T a little bit.. What do you all think? I might take out the passanger seat and rear seat too....

I want my 11 sec time slip...

I once took out as much as I could to see what it'd do. passenger seat, back seats, floor mats, spare tire/jack, that thing that folds over, all the CDs and ****, less than an 1/8 tank of gas, T-Top storage holders and didn't eat that day. I could only get a .1 second +1mph time difference. Do that and you'll hit 12.2 for sure. who knows, maybe it'll be a better day and your car will run faster and get that 11!

I know how you feel torch my car makes similar power. My best run so far has been a
12.8 @ 115mph with a 2.23 60'! This was in 3800 DA but our track is at 1900' so we dont see much better than 2000' da anyways. I'm going to drop a 9" in it with 3.90's or 4.11's and put some ET streets on a set of free 16x8 camaro wheels I got. This bitch better hit 11's haha. Oh ya I'd recommend you remove your front sway bar, that got me .2 in the 60'. I'm also going to build a ram air thing like Chris builds for my car and probably add an underdrive pulley, so that should help a couple mph.

Like i said i was thinking of getting some good BFG tires and put them on my stock 16x8 5 star chrome rims. 16" rims have less rotational mass than my 17" rims... Are the stock 5 star chrome rims 16x8 or 8.5? I can not remember. And shoue i get a 245 or 255 tire?

I already have an FTRA intake that chirs makes, had it for well over a year now.... Next time out i might remove my front sway bar to see if that helps too

Damn thats a low trap speed for 420 hp. How's your shifting? I would take off as much little stuff as you can. Take off the front sway bar and the front bumper support. THat should be good for about 40lbs

front sway bar- it will lose weight off the front end, and will help with weight transfer on your launch.

setting up your suspension- maybe need to buy some parts can really help

all the stuff I mention weighed in at around 100lbs. idk where you can get 200 more. maybe pay a small person to drive your car, although that'd be at most another 60-100lbs!

AC FTL. For what it's worth, my factory carpet weighed 39lbs and I dug about 5lbs of deadener out of the hatch.

There is a post on here somewhere... around 10-15lbs, I think...

Tomorrow I might go get a lightweight battery from an autoparts store... 11.5lbs for ~$70! Deka ETX14

If you want to take out weight and still keep a factory look check out my 93 thread in my sig. I've taken out 322 lbs so far in crap without investing any money. I still have ac, ps, two stock seats, carpet, and all of the interior panels. Some of it may be a little extreme for you, but there are a lot of good things in there.
