Default ORY/ no cats Smell

Can anyone explain why some cars with ORY/ cat delete smell and others don't?

Two of my buddies have ORY and their cars smell like its from 1972 and you can smell the gas on the inside of the car, but I have two other friends who deleted their cats with a thru pipe, and I dont smell a thing.

My car has Hooker LT's in to a Hooker Y pipe into a B&B Catback and I get a Crazy Bad gas smell and I had my car Basic Tuned by Speed Inc about 1 month ago. They said that the smell is normal because of my set-up.

What size cam? The bigger the overlap the worse it seems to get in most cases.

shoot, I don't know about you guys but every time I open my garage door it smells like a fuel manufacturing plant. (no there are no fuel leaks) I guess its just the way the car smells. I don't see it being anything out of the ordinary for an ORY setup.

Cam overlap has alot to do with it. My AFR actually shows a bit lean at idle but it still stinks.

Mine at didn't smell when it was just LTs, ORY, and catback. Now with the cam it pours out haha. You can smell it at stand still but moving you can't smell in car at all. Behind i hear isn't that bad unless i hit it hard. You can definitly smell it in the garage though like all the time

Weird. I have a 224 cam with 112 LSA with no cats and get hardly any gas smell.

I know we aren't talking about TD's, but thats what I have with a large cam on my DD. The smell gets pretty bad when you are sitting there idling in traffic. It doesn't bug me too bad, just gives me a little buzz to ease the stress of traffic.

And about the tune... I think once you throw a cam in there it doesn't matter how good the tune is, its going to smell.
