Default Oilpan to pickup tube, oil pump and crank in the bottom front of the motor?

I'm curious if the front of an F body pan can be modified and moved up at all before hitting the oil pump pickup tube or other obstructions? What side does the pickup tube run on? Could it possibly be reworked? Thanks for any help, and pictures would be great if anyone has some of their engine w/ the pan off.

Things are pretty tightly setup in the oil pan. What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?

Move the pan up to clear obstructions and fit under a hood.

I would say its possible up to a certain amount.

You would just cut off a little more on the pick up tube than you would cut off the pan itself and weld it back up.

Im not sure how much shorter you can make it before it doesnt clear the crankshaft though.

According to the oilpan dimensions in the swap section, the F body pan is the shortest in front.

How close do the crank counterweights come to the level of the pan rail?

The connecting rod bolts come closer that the crank counterweights. At least the rod bolt head is what scraped the pan on my crank.
